NICHOLE'S POV
I just bolted straight down the road, not wanting to know where I was going. I hope Gerard never woke up after I left. I really don't want him to get involved in this. He could get hurt instead of me, and I don't want that. I stopped a far bit down the road when I heard someone walk up behind me. I turned around, hoping it wasn't Gerard. And sure enough, it wasn't. It was my mum.
"Nichole, honey." she said, "What are you doing? Why are you running from your best friend?"
"Mum?" I asked.
"Go back to Gerard honey." she said.
"No." I said, crossing my arms.
"And why?"
"Because I don't want him to get dragged into this. You wanted me to get married to Bailey, didn't you?"
"Yes, but-"
"Mum!" I yelled, then started running again. This time I never stopped until I was a fair bit away from the last place I stopped. I stopped and look around at where I was. It was the airport. Thats a good thing. I'll get a plane to California, start a new life, and not worry about anyone or anything.

-3 YEARS LATER IN CALIFORNIA-
"Hey Becca," I yelled downstairs to my room mate, "Should I buy a jacket or pair of shoes?"
"Um, shoes. You've got enough jackets." she yelled back.
"Are you sure?" I asked, walking into the lounge room where she was.
"Yes, honey. I'm sure." she said, "Now, listen. I've got my cousin coming over later today, is that okay?"
"Yeah, sure. Thats fine." I said, a little disappointed. I really wanted to take Becca shopping this afternoon. Well, I guess thats blown now.
"Oh, cheer up Nikki." she said.
"Alright." I smiled, and walked upstairs to my room.

I walked downstairs when the door opened. I dropped my book I had. It was Bailey. I ran over and slammed the door shut.
"Thats not your cousin, is it?" I asked Becca.
"No." she said, "Not even close."
"God." I said, "Don't let him in. Thats my ex. He's been out for me since I ended it."
"My cousin's already here. He's in the kitchen."
"Okay." I said, and starting walking to the kitchen, "Just whatever you do don't let him in. Alright?"
"Alright." Becca said, then went upstairs. I walked into the kitchen and saw her cousin cooking something.
"Yo, you cooking tea tonight?" I asked.
"Yup. Becca wanted me to."
"Well, saves us having to go out." I said, he laughed. I walked over to get some juice out of the fridge.
"So, hey. I'm Gerard, Becca's cousin." he said.
"Oh," I said, and put the juice on the bench. I faced him, "hey, I'm Nikki. I'm Becca's friend." I said.
"I like the name Nikki." he said, I smiled, "I had a best friend, her name was Nichole. I called her Nikki for short." he said.
"Oh, what happened to her?" I asked.
"No one knows. She left, and I haven't seen her since." he said, "Everyone says she's gone."
"Awh, don't give up - wait," he looked at me, "Did you say her name was Nichole?"
"Yeah."
"And how was it spelt? Was her last name Brookes?" I asked.
"Yes, it was. And it her name was spelt N-i-c-h-o-l-e." he looked at me, "Have you seen her?" I just looked at him.
"Gerard." I said to him, "Its me, Nichole. You're friend." he just looked at me in disbelif, "I'm serious. I'm Nikki. I'm sorry I left. I really didn't want you getting involved with the whole Bailey thing." I said. I walked into the lounge room and sat on the couch.
"Nikki, its okay." he said, following me, "I just.... Thought I lost you." he said. I looked at him and saw a tear.
"I'm sorry, Gee." I said, and hugged him.

It was late that night. I couldn't sleep, like always. I eventually got to sleep, and when I was half asleep I heard someone walk downstairs. I didn't worry about it.
"Nikki, I'm sorry." I heard a voice, "I know you probably can't hear me right now, but I love you." it was Gee's voice. I opened my eyes and saw JUST saw Bailey behind him. My eyes widened . . . . .
