Chapter 12 - Sarahs POV
I smiled as Bradie laughed. It was surprising that he even could, considering what happened, he was trying so hard to cheer me up. He helped her down the stairs, being careful not to touch the still tender burns that marred my skin.
Once we reached the bottom of the stairs I stopped and turned towards him. “Thank you, you’ve helped me so much these past two weeks, no matter what happens now, I just want you to know that I will always love you, now, I cant see, so would you mind showing me where your lips are?” I said with a cheeky smile.
“My pleasure,” He said as he brought his lips to mine. We walked out the door hand in hand, my other hand brushed against the bandage that blinded me.
. . . . .
The constant beeping of the machines unnerved me. I had hoped not to have to come back to this place for a long time, after that long agonizing stay, I hated hospitals, but at least both Bradie and I were both completely conscious this time. I took his warm hand in mine.
“Hey guys!” I heard a familiar voice call out from behind us, “just thought I should come and keep you guys company while you wait for, um, well you know.” I felt the cushion of the lounge we sat on move down as Shaun sat down next to me.
“Uh sorry to ask you guys this, but how is Kirrah?” he asked, I could hear the pain in his voice.
“Sorry Shaun, but no luck, I tried to explain everything to her but she just kept on getting up and walking away, and well, I can’t exactly run after her,” I said, pointing to my blindfold. Bradie squeezed my hand, attempting to comfort me.
“Oh, well thank you so much for trying,” he said sadly, “I just got an idea!” He leaned in closer towards us and whispered something. I could hear the smile in his voice.
“Awesome! But how do we get her there?” I asked, I really hoped that this would work, and helping organize this was exactly the distraction that I needed.
“Well that where you come in, Sarah,” he said nervously, “she wont be able to say no to you considering what, um, happened, you can say that it’s a celebration for the fact that you can see.”
“You mean if I’m not blind,” I said sadly. Bradie put his arm around my shoulders and kissed my cheek softly.
“No,” said Bradie, “you need to think positively, we’re going to go in there and you will be alright.”
“I guess even if i can’t see, I can just say that I need her to guide me,” I said.
“Yeah but you will be able to see,” said Shaun.
“Yeah, everything’s going to be fine, you’ll see,” Said Bradie.
“I hope you guys are right,” I said as I leaned into Bradie, he wrapped his arms around me.
. . . . .
“Sarah Johnstone?” called out a nurse, “you can come in now.”
“Bradie, Shaun? Come with me?” I asked shakily.
“Of course!” they both said as we got up. I felt Bradies warm hand on my back as we walked into the small room.
. . . . .
“Now,” said the doctor, “I’ll just take this bandage off and we’ll see if there was any permanent damage.” Cool hands brushed my skin as he carefully removed the bandage. I could feel the light weight of the bandage being slowly removed. My hand tightly clenched Bradies. The last of the bandage was finally removed, and…
