"So Blessin'... tell us your whole story... then we'll go get Journey." I nodded at Stefan, thinking they would find out sooner or later. "Well... you already know I was..." They nodded, not wanting to bring up the subject again. "That was when I was ten. 6 years ago. That's how old Journey is." They both crossed their legs, getting ready for my long, shitty story. "I never knew my dad. He killed himself when I was two. Probably because my mum was a bitch and always made him stay in the house. My grandparents never helped me out when I told them about mum beating me. No one listened to me. But when Journey was born, I felt I had a purpose. And it was to take care of her. I taught her how to protect herself from mum's drunken fits and swings." They were in shock, and their mouths hung slightly open. "And when I turned thirteen, people at school found out about my dad and my... um... rape. They told me to cut myself and it was my fault Dad died. I tried to forget what they said. But I started to cut myself when I was fourteen. It was... an escape. I didn't do it for attention, but for the hope I made a mistake, and died." Stefan couldn't take it anymore, he stood up, and ran to the toilet. I could hear him getting sick. Ashley moved closer to me, and pulled me into a hug. "I'm sorry you had to do those things when you were so young." I nodded, and started to cry into him. I didn't care anymore. I needed to tell someone what was going on. I held onto his arm, and cried harder into his chest. He pat my head with his free hand, and tried rocking me to sleep. I sat up, and wiped my tear-stained face.Stefan walked in on shaking legs, and sat by me. He sighed, and looked into my eyes. "So... let's go get your sister." I nodded in anticipation. I helped him stand up, and I walked to get my shoes. I slipped on my Nike's, and waited for them to get ready. When they were ready I looked at them, my face glossed with seriousness. "She will try to hit you. If she does, just ignore her and tell her you're from... social services. That'll calm her down a bit." They nodded at my devious plan. We got onto the train, and waited for our stop. I stood up, and Ash and Stefan did they same. I walked down my street, and a fear settled over me. What if she... kills you Blessing? I shook away that thought. I turned my head around to see Stefan and Ashley talking quickly and worriedly. I looked ahead again, and walked up the cracking concrete steps of my house. I heard a scream, and a glass breaking. I opened the door and ran inside to see Journey, curled up in a ball in the corner of the kitchen, holding her hand over a bloody cut on her head. "GOD DAMN IT MUM!!! LEAVE HER THE FUCK ALONE!!!" I tackled my mum, and punched her in the mouth. She gasped, but sneered up at me. I spat in her eyes, and gestured for the boys to come in. Stefan looked sick, but held his composer. Ash looked fearless... and angry. "Mum. These are social workers and they're here to take Journey and me. I hope you die. I'm not gonna take it back either." She looked pissed, but I was full of excitement. I held my hand out to Journey, who was wide-eyed and shaking. "Common Journey. Let's go pack some of your things and let's scat. Sound good?" She violently shook her head yes, and stood up. We walked back to her room, all four of us. We got a duffle-bag and filled it with her clothing and toys. She looked content with her choices, and she nodded up towards Stefan and Ashley. They were smiling at her. She reached out her hand, waiting for a shake. Stefan laughed and shook her waiting hand. "I'm Journey." "We know. Are you ready to go Journey?" She looked around one last time and nodded. She then looked at Ashley. "I already like you. What's your name?" He blushed, and looked at her. "Ashley." She smiled. "My friend's name is Ashley!!!" She giggled, and held out her hand for him. He took it, but she decided to just hold it, not shake it. Ashley looked embarrassed, but happy he made a new friend. I smiled at how fast she warmed up to them. I walked into the hallway first, careful not to run into mum. "We're good." They walked out after me, but I stopped. I heard my Mum crying. We walked into the beat up living room to find her hugging a picture of me and Journey. "Give it a rest Mum. You were a horrible mother. Now... you've lost us. How do you think crying will bring us back to you?" She ignored me, and kept crying over our framed faces. Ashley was tricked into carrying Journey, who looked quite pleased with herself. Stefan was holding the bag of clothes, and I had a bag filled with £1,000. I felt better now. We walked out of the front door, and into freedom.
