A/N: I’m so sorry for the long wait guys, I haven’t been feeling my best lately and I didn’t want to make the story really sad when it’s supposed to cheer people up. So I’m sorry again, hopefully this chapter will make up for it
PS. I went to see Evanescence last Thursday, AMAZING!
PPS. Please tell me if you think this story is going too slow, I’m not sure but I just prefer to take it slow rather than skip several days at a time
Molly x
Kids, as I walked to my drama lesson that day, I was actually quite happy. I thought I was going to have 45 minutes of “practicing acting techniques” while actually messing around and getting to know the other girls but I was unpleasantly surprised when we turned up to find out we had to help with this years “prestigious” production of Romeo and Juliet. Now, I had always promised myself I would never be sucked into a part in the play, and since your father wasn’t coincidentally playing Romeo that year, I decided to stick to that promise, the only problem was that I couldn’t play an instrument so that left me with set up which was going to be hard considering only three of us had volunteered…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We walk into the middle of the stage to reach the table and write our names under the heading “Set up”. I peek at the other sections, six people had put their names down for band and fifteen had put theirs for parts in the play
“Wow Ashlie, you were right, almost everyone went for parts,” I say, straightening up and facing her
“No surprise considering the people in here” She says snidely, crossing her arms and looking around her, a look of disgust and hatred painted on her face
“I’m sure it can’t be that bad, we’ll make the set look great,” Penina says enthusiastically
“Oh this is ridiculous” I hear Molly complain. We all turn our heads to see her approaching miss. We walk over to Rebecca and Abbie who are nearer by than us
“What’s got her pants in a twist?” I ask, gesturing towards her
“I think you’re about to find out,” Abbie says smirking
“Can I help you Miss Carroll?” Miss Thomas asks impatiently, sighing and peering over the top of her glasses towards Molly
“I have a problem with the music”
“Oh, and why is that?” Miss Thomas questions
“It’s boring” Molly says matter-of-factly
“Did she actually just say that?” Rebecca asks, surprised
“I-I think she did” I say bewildered
“Shh I want to hear this” Ashlie says smiling and leaning further towards the situation
“But miss, we’re doing a modern take on it, why is the music still classical?” Molly whines
“I’m sorry Miss Carroll, but when Shakespeare is involved, I’m not quite sure your suggestion of the Foo Fighters quite fit the bill” I laugh at her suggestion
“But they do love songs” Molly tries to reason
“In her defence, they do” Penina agrees
“Thank you” Molly says, gesturing towards Penina
“My word is final, no rock music, by modern I meant the language” Miss says before turning and walking away
“Fucking bitch” Molly mutters angrily while walking back over to us
“We should probably start setting up” I sigh and pat Molly on the shoulder
So it’s obvious that Molly wasn’t happy about the music and, truth be told, none of us were but we just had to get on with it anyway. Drama went quickly, we found a big, old wooden panel and started to paint it like a brick wall and came up with ideas for the other scenes yet we still managed to waste so much time laughing especially when Molly got told by Miss Thomas, in these exact words “Miss Carroll, you are supposed to be working, not starting a flash mob” when she started to dance around ‘Gangnam Style’ but she didn’t seem too upset when she shouted back “We’re doing a musical aren’t we?” When it did end, Molly and I made our way to art only to find we weren’t alone in that class…
“I didn’t know you guys were in this class,” Frank says upon our arrival
“Hello to you too” Molly says sarcastically
“What has Frank done this time?” Gerard asks from behind me while wrapping his arms smoothly around my waist and placing his head heavily on my shoulder. I turn my head and kiss him on the cheek, holding his arms
“He didn’t say hello, cheeky bastard,” Molly says, placing her hands on her hips. I roll my eyes “And neither did you” She continues, pointing a finger towards Gerard
“Hello” Frank and Gerard say in unison
“That’s better” Molly says, crossing her arms contentedly
“Anyway, I’m glad you guys are in our class, I can finally see Caitlin’s art skills” Gerard says from over my shoulder, his minty breath brushing past my nose “Do you like art, Molly?”
“Yeah, I love it” Molly says enthusiastically
“You any good?” Frank asks
“I’m not too bad” She answers, shrugging
“Come on in class” Miss Brown shouts from the door, gesturing for us to come in. Gerard lifts his head from my shoulder and puts his hand there instead as the class file into the classroom quickly, light conversation and screeching of metal stools on the floor filling the air. Gerard spots an empty row at the back of class and leads us over, throwing his bag onto the table and pulling out his chair to sit down. We all follow suit, pulling our books out and putting our bags on the floor, the light chatter dying down enough so Miss can speak
“Right class, for the next two lessons, today and Friday, I thought we’d do something fun, we will be drawing our partners, you know what you need, pair up and get started” She finishes, clapping her hands and going back to her desk to draw like she always does. I turn to face Gerard and he looks up smiling
“Caitlin, don’t look so worried, this’ll be fun” He says, lifting my chin up so I’m looking at him “I’ll go first, now smile and hold still” A smile automatically places on my lips and he looks for a second before placing light sketch marks on his page. Over my shoulder, I hear Molly
“Right Mr Iero, are you ready to be insulted?” She asks making Frank laugh
“It can’t be that bad” He answers
“Oh just you wait! Now hold still and pull a face that you can maintain” By the sounds of things, Frank follows orders causing Molly to laugh “Ok, if you really think you can stick your tongue out for that long, I will draw you now” I shake my head slightly and look back to Gerard to see him also sticking his tongue out of the corner of his mouth in concentration as he flicks his head up and down and adds more and more to the page, only stopping to tuck his fire red hair behind his ear when it falls into his view.
Time passes fast and, one by one, people are unveiling their drawings to their partners, some laugh, some gasp and one gets slapped. Gerard looks up to me smiling, holding his drawing to his chest so I can’t see yet
“Are you ready to see it?” He says
“Yes! Stop teasing” I say excitedly. I look down to the paper as he slowly turns it around and my eyes widen. I admire it for a minute, tracing the lines of the hair and jaw lightly with my finger before speaking again “Its…just…how…its…wow” I say, settling on a word, speechless at what I’m seeing. Gerard’s face lights up when he sees that I like it and I smile at him before I whip round to see Frank staring wide mouthed at Molly’s drawing. Gerard and I slide off of our seats and stand either side of him and look at the drawing.
“Molly, I knew you liked drawing but I didn’t know you actually could” I say shocked
“Um, thanks I think” Molly says smiling
“I pulled that face to make it hard for you, how did you do it?” Frank says in disbelief. Molly just shrugs
“Ok class, it’s time to pack up” Miss shouts above us
“You can keep it if you like” Molly says, offering the drawing to Frank
“Thanks” He smiles, taking it and looking at it more before placing it carefully in his bag. I return to my place and throw my stuff into my bag before Gerard nudges me
“It’s your turn to draw me next lesson” He smiles before slinging his bag over his shoulders.
Oh my God.
