A Chemical Romance
0 reviews"Now you know how I see love.." Gerard started, looking down at his awkwardly shaped knees. "Can I know how you see it?"
0Unrated
Frank sat, hand in hand with Gerard, their first kiss was slightly awkward, but Frank didn't mind, in the slightest. He was just glad Gerard hadn't gotten up and ran from him.
"So, why haven't you had these feelings before?" He asked, softly. Gerard stared absently at the boy beside him.
"I haven't ever met someone who is interesting- enough. Other than my brother. And - that wouldn't be right." Gerard smirked softly. Frank blushed slightly, a small smirk dancing across his lips.
"Why the hell would someone like you, find me interesting?" He giggled.
"Just because my mind is extraordinary," Gerard paused, hoping he didn't come out sounding too pretentious - which he did, often. "Does not make your mind any less extraordinary, to me." He finished, feeling particularly pleased with his answer. That was a compliment, yes? Yes. He was sure of it. Frank smiled, leaning up, and kissing Gerard's cheek.
"That was a very nice thing to say." He giggled, tucking some hair behind his ear. "Can I ask you a question?" Gerard nodded inwardly - he'd done something right. Maybe Frank could teach him more about this kind of stuff. He'd love to learn it.
"I suppose I could let you." Gerard agreed. Frank sighed, smiling a little in relief.
"You have probably read up on the subject, so you hopefully know how to answer this." He paused, blushing very hard, "Would you like to be in a relationship, with me?" Gerard tilted his head thoughtfully. He had taken a very rare and strange liking to Frank. But even though he may know every aspect of what is expected in a relationship, be it sexual or strictly platonic, that was from a book, and even Gerard knew that books were nothing to experiencing it yourself. Gerard still had no idea how to answer Frank and he blundered.
"Sexual or platonic?" He asked, bluntly, to Frank's surprise. He regretted saying it a little afterwards, since perhaps, it had been a little up front - but he needed to know.
"Sexual, I don't think asking someone to be friends with you would take that much nerve." He smirked, blushing, looking down at his shoes, nervously, wondering how Gerard would react. "I know you've never actually had a sexual relationship before with either gender, but there's no time like the present."
"I have had one sexual experience," Gerard noted, thoughtfully. "Though, I don't remember it, so, I suppose, this would be my first one." He remarked. He wasn't lying - he had had a sexual experience, but it was hazy, and frankly, he didn't remember it, and he felt that if his brain had blocked it out - it had been for a reason. He had filed it accordingly. "No time like the present." He repeated, quietly, to himself.
"Really? Girl or boy?" Frank asked, bluntly. "It's up to you, your decision." Frank smiled, shrugging, still holding Gerard's hand, "You have soft hands." He mumbled, inwardly. Gerard concentrated as he rifled through his thoughts for the correct information.
"Male," He breathed in sharply. He shook his head and attempted to change the subject. "I take good care of my hands. They're the only things I have worth keeping." Frank nodded, noting the things that Gerard told him, but he did want an answer, he just didn't know how to ask him.
"So, you're gay or bisexual?" He persisted. He thought he might of been rude, but to be fair, Gerard hadn't been completely polite himself. Gerard shook his head, with a gentle, endearing smile.
"Sexuality is fluid Frank - I've told you that." He smiled softly and pulled Frank's hand towards him. "But - to put it plainly - brain first, gender second," Frank smiled, blushing, looking up at Gerard.
"I really don't understand how I've fallen for you, but I'm ecstatic that I have." He chewed his lip, looking into Gerard's eyes. Gerard grinned. He was impressed at himself that his eccentric ways had actually successfully attracted another person.
"I understand perfectly. But you wouldn't want an explanation I suppose, some people think that the Chemistry takes away from the 'magic'." Gerard didn't mind being himself around Frank - he could talk about everything he enjoyed and he just knew that Frank would be listening. He hoped that soon, Frank might do the same. Frank shook his head.
"No, no, explain. I want to understand like you do." He smiled, gulping, blushing slightly. "I hope you don't mind me holding your hand, I just really like it, it feels... Comforting." He spoke softly. Gerard grinned and looked towards Frank excitedly.
"Okay." Gerard started, squeezing Frank's hand and putting both of his around it. "When you see someone - who you think is desirable - you might feel lust. Not always, but most of the time. Some people do.. others don't." He signalled subtly to himself and smiled at the ground, a little embarrassed. "Then after that, is where your hormones kick in. There's this group of neuro-transmitters, in your brain, called monoamines, and they start spitting out hormones. Dopamine, which is a main one, which you can also get from cocaine, but.. Love, is far more dangerous." Gerard smirked and breathed in deeply, enjoying himself in his element. "Norepinephrine is another one - adrenline, you might call it - makes your heart beat, makes you feel like the earth depends on you. At that moment. Then Serotonin takes it's toll.. and you go completely insane, when you're 'head over heels'," He created apostrophes with his fingers in the air. Gerard stopped himself from talking and smiled sheepishly. "I could go on, but.." Frank looked at Gerard's hands around his own, smiling.
"I actually understand." He breathed out happily, "You can continue if you want, but I get if you don't want to, you look a little out of breath." He grinned, laughing softly. Gerard nodded eagerly.
"I'd love to." He shifted his arm around Frank, as he had learnt that was some sort of social convention, and - he had to admit, he liked having Frank so close to him. "There's this chemical called oxytocin - which you get once a strong bond has formed.. It's actually released by both sexes, especially during orgasm," Gerard announced, bluntly. Frank gasped a little in the shock but grinned, finding Gerard's obliviousness to being appropriate completely endearing. "It is said to make the bond between humans stronger." He paused, considering whether he should stop - but he was on a roll, and he knew Frank could understand - he wasn't stupid, in fact, he was far from that. "There's this other hormone called Vasopressin. No one really knows what it does - except that it's so very important in preserving a long lasting relationship. But sometimes, you can feel it, in your first early hours of meeting." He finished, with a satisfied sigh. "I got.. a little carried away." Frank leant softly against Gerard's chest, beaming warmly.
"Please, get carried away more often, you're so interesting." He giggled, blushing. "I can see that you're definitely getting more comfortable." He looked up at Gerard, hinting about his arm slung around Frank's shoulder. He was joking - but he liked it.
"I.. like that you find me interesting." Gerard noted, with a smile. "Perhaps, you could explain something to me." He asked, hopefully.
"I'll try to explain anything, as best as I can of course." He gripped Gerard's particularly soft hand in his own. "You're honestly the most interesting person I have ever met, Gee." Gerard wondered if the burning sensation he could feel on his cheeks meant that he was blushing. Huh. It was an odd experience.
"Now you know how I see love.." He started, looking down at his awkwardly shaped knees. "Can I know how you see it?" Frank's eyes grew wider as he spoke, and his face burst into a grin.
"Hm.. That's hard, but I'll try, for you." He smiled, thinking pensively for a second. "I see love as where you really like everything about another person, either gender, where you want to spend all your time talking to them, where you know what they're thinking and that you just have this.. connection, like, you know how the other person feels and you feel guilty because you care about them so much, and you want to fix that. Weird little things like that, you know? You just feel a deep attachment to that person. That's all I can really say." He shrugged, smiling. Gerard nodded, in understanding. He was learning.
"Love is when you don't see your life being perfect with that person, but you'd rather look over their impurities and stay with them, because you know you could never stand anyone else. Yes?" Gerard asked, softly. He hoped he'd gotten it right on his part. Technically, he had just taken what Frank had said, and twisted it. But that's all he ever did, really. Made things sound good. Frank nodded, smiling.
"Perfect." He looked at Gerard, "You're blushing." He giggled, not seeing this before. Frank placed a hand on Gerard's cheek, hoping he wouldn't flinch. Gerard reciprocated, leaning a little closer into Frank. He was beginning to learn and understand how this worked, and for once, he was finding life new, and exciting. He wasn't sitting, and watching life go by. He was participating. He was not simply a wall flower.
"I.. I thought I might be." Gerard stammered, suddenly overcome.
"You look adorable." He giggled, blushing slightly himself. This moment was just, perfect, Frank beamed to himself.
"I.." Gerard found himself without words, for once. He considered all types of life, beautiful. The small beads of dew on crisp strips of grass and freshly opened flower heads. The crystal clear water running down mountain and valley sides into vast reservoirs below. A baby, handed to him at a hospital side, at the ripe age of 6, it's small features and pink skin cradled in his hands. All aspects of life was beautiful, but none of them seemed to matter, in comparison to Frank. Of course he'd never tell Frank this - he wouldn't tell anyone that. He didn't think it was possible for a human to surpass the beauty of the natural born world, but he had succeeded, and passed with flying colours. Frank smiled, and stroked Gerard's cheek with the back of his hand.
"I'm strangely proud of you for not flinching." He smiled, looking into Gerard's eyes. "It scared me a little thinking that I'd done something wrong." He admitted softly, disconnecting his eyes from Gerard's, looking down at his knees and boots.
"I'm not used to being touched." Gerard noted, gazing softly at Frank. This was a new angle to see him- Frank's eyelashes rested softly against his slightly freckled cheeks, highlighting the small dusting of eyeliner he must have applied - say - two hours ago. "You are not harmful," Gerard paused, humming softly. "Though not entirely harmless." Frank laughed very softly.
"You're right there, but I would never even dream of hurting you, I just.. Couldn't." He shook his head, gulping. "I'm not either, I've had one actual kiss, it was unpleasant. No one hugs me or anything," He shrugged.
"I know that." Gerard smiled and reached out for Frank, adjusting his body around him. "I know it, but I just can't understand why." He pressed his lips protectively against Frank's crown. He'd seen his mother do it to Mikey, before.. Anyway. He knew it was comforting. Frank looked up, smiling, kissing Gerard's cheek.
"Too many reasons why." He spoke softly, brushing some hair out of his face.
"They are nullified." Gerard beamed gently, hoping that he might have lifted Frank's spirits a little. He wasn't brilliant at recognizing emotions sometimes, but he could recognize this. "I've had many kisses, one actual kiss." He nodded, pensively. "All unpleasant, but, one." He added.
"Do you remember who the kiss was with? The one you actually enjoyed?" He asked, softly. Frank cuddled reasonably close to Gerard, his head leaning on Gerard's shoulder, looking up at him. Gerard stared at Frank, a little dumbfounded.
"I remember it perfectly in my mind. It was soft, and quick, and precisely.. twenty minutes ago," He finished. Frank giggled, blushing.
"Oh, that one, I liked it, but you needed to relax the slightest bit." He smiled, looking up at the older boy with admiration.
"I can do that. We can try again. I promise, I'll do it right." Gerard beamed. Frank was his teacher and he appreciated this private tutoring. Frank smiled.
"Okay, just relax, I won't bite." He giggled, shutting his eyes, leaning in, pressing his lips softly against Gerard's. Gerard began to protest, but decided he would carry it out, rather than freak out. He let himself sink into it, and he found himself actually enjoying himself. Today was a day of new experiences. If someone had told him that this morning, he probably would have told said person to fuck off. He imagined that Frank would have been more the same. Frank couldn't help but smile in the kiss, placing his hands on Gerard's shoulders. He pulled away, resting his forehead against Gerard's.

"Yes," Gerard remarked, settling himself back in the leaves. He studied the sun and the sky for a moment and sat back up. "I need to go home." He looked a little alarmed, as he dusted himself off, collecting his bag in his hands. "You coming?" Gerard asked, casually, walking from the clearing, kicking the auburn leaves as he wandered.
"Mh hm." Frank smiled, gigging, walking beside Gerard, "Are you tall or am I just really short?" He asked softly, smiling, blushing hard.
"Unfortunately," Gerard grinned, taking Frank's hand in his own. "You are below average, and I am considerably, but just, above. That is strictly height, of course," He added, tapping his nose with his free hand. Frank laughed, smiling.
"Explain the context your hinting!" He giggled, blushing a little, not realising that Gerard had a good sense of humour. He looked down at their hands together, blushing. Gerard sighed over exaggeratedly, joking with Frank. He often found himself with this odd little sense of humour that only he and his brother shared, but it seemed that Frank might also possess it.
"You're smarter than you think you are, Frank." Gerard remarked, squeezing Frank's hand. Frank grinned, his cheeks burning.
"I still think I'm pretty dumb." He shrugged, looking up at the older boy. Frank looked at their hands together, shuffling slightly closer to him, he wanted to ask if they were dating, but he was too terrified.
"You think you're dumb. Therefore, you're acting dumb. And you acting dumb makes you think you're dumb and that makes you act dumb. So stop what you're doing, and be magnificent, Frank Iero!" He shouted, before running off down the road. Perhaps he shouldn't have last name dropped, but he had worked it out almost an hour ago and he was dying to say it. Iero. What a name. Far better than his own. Frank giggled, running after him.
"Gerard Way!" He shouted, chasing after him, before grabbing his hand softly, "You're very extravagant, aren't you?" He laughed softly. Gerard stopped suddenly.
"You know my name." He turned and stared at Frank, an eyebrow arched. "You know my name, how did you know my name? I know how I knew your name but.." He grinned suddenly. "You are intelligent." Frank giggled, tapping his nose.
"It's a secret." He smiled, going on his tip toes, kissing Gerard's cheek. Gerard grumbled, before flashing his eyes open and practically dragging Frank down the street.
I'm late, I'm late!" He muttered. Frank squealed a little, being dragged behind Gerard, not knowing what to do, so he just decided to follow him.
