The ending is really strong, but it needs a setup that would do it justice. The first five paragraphs could be about anyone. From your summary, I thought they were from Jack's POV. Who is this? Is it the dude with the dreadlocks? The guy with the wooden eye? Barbossa? This could be beyond awesome if that gets nailed down.
