(A/N: Might make a part two, if you so desire?)

"Oi oi oi, Soy Sauce Face, what's with all the noise?! Sounds like a little girl screeching or something."

"Oh, um. Mineta grabbed at (L/N) inappropriately again and I'm taping him to the table. Still need to tape his mouth shut though, but I figured I should shove an apple in his mouth instead. That is how they serve pigs, right? Anyways, I've looked in the fridge and all the cabinets but I just can't seem to find one."

You shudder, not liking the carefree smile on your classmate, Sero's face. It was the same smile he always wore, simple and bright and large, but the way he phrased his threats was terrifying.

Mineta protests loudly, but Bakugo's hand produces tiny explosive sparks. "Oi, grape head. Shut up. I could care less about your perverse behavior, but I'm not going to discourage my friend from taping you up either. So be quiet and take it or get burnt by my explosions!!!"

That shuts him up. You grimace as Sero stuffs his mouth with tape.

"Sero-kun, you didn't have to do that," you say, frowning. "He's a pain, sure, but I could handle him."

He smiles your way. "It's no problem. I do this every time he does this to any of the girls."

You nod, shy. Yeah, any one of the girls… And those girls were absolutely beautiful in comparison to you. You honestly didn't understand why Mineta bothered looking your way.

Let alone Sero.

Yes, you had a massive schoolgirl crush on him. It was silly, considering you were both focused on becoming heroes, but you couldn't help it. He was charismatic, he had a great sense of style, he had a bright and fun and sassy personality. Not only that, but you accidentally walked past his dorm late one night while he was singing in Spanish softly in his dorm room. His door was even open a crack, and you peered in, too curious for your own good. Shirtless and chin-length dark hair soaked through, he had clearly taken a shower recently. Luckily, he wasn't wearing a towel or something like that. Just him in black sweatpants. Dancing a little around his room and singing into his hairbrush. You'd already known this from the dorm room contest, but his room was rather exotic and enticing. He was well-educated on interior design.

There was just… so much to like about this hero-in-training. He was competent enough with his hero training to make the top sixteen students in the sports festival and had a good handle on his Quirk in general.

Whereas you… You could barely use your Quirk without hurting yourself. You could shoot bullets from your fingertips by forming them and storing them inside your body, but the storage space could barely make it past your hands and even when you did store multiple at a time it felt like metal in your hands and it weighed you down. Plus, the activation of it was inconsistent and erratic. At any moment it could go off, firing metal in every direction. You usually wore gloves with strong metal fibers as a constant support item. Aoyama even confided in you that you weren't alone in that aspect, but it still didn't make you feel any better.

But, no need to dwell on your insecurities too much. You thank Sero as he walks into his dorm, and then shut yourself up in your own. Sleep overtakes you as soon as your head hits your pillow.

“So, (Y/N), who do you like?~”

Mina’s room is, to say the least, funky, with hot pink and black in every direction, but it’s also comfy and cozy in every nook and cranny, with soft carpet beneath your seat on the floor next to Tsu and Tooru. The owner of the room was in your face, enthusiastic to hear about a possible crush. You roll your eyes, take another handful of the popcorn and M&M’s mixture from the white ceramic bowl placed in the middle of the circular formation you girls had, and stuff your mouth with it. “You first, Mina-chan.” You flick her forehead playfully.

She falls back into her place in the circle — across from you — as most of the other ladies encourage this new topic. All except for Kyoka and Ochako, who both seem timorous, reclusive, and overall reluctant to delve into the subject of crushes. “Hm… Well, I like Kirishima-kun…” She flushes an even darker pink and holds her face in her hands.

You can hear Tooru’s large smile in her voice. “And I like Ojiro-san!”

“He’s very respectful… But he’s kinda plain, don’tcha think?” Oh god… Are they going to judge your crush for looks, too? Sero is very handsome, but you’re sure Mina thinks otherwise.

“Hmph! You know, I’m kinda plain too!” Tooru waves her arm frantically, although you’re unsure what gesture she’s making. She can see herself, right?

“Tooru, I’m sure you’re quite beautiful. Besides, appearance doesn’t matter,” Momo says, smiling reassuringly.

“Then what about you, Miss Moneybags?” You let out a soft chuckle at Ochako’s words. She’s only making such a jab at the class vice president because she’s extremely broke. “Who do you like?”

The tall female blushes and tugs at her sleek black bangs. You swear she glances at Kyoka for a millisecond. “Well, it used to be Todoroki-kun, but things have changed.”

A ribbit. “Tokoyami confessed to me recently, but I turned him down. I’m… kind of strictly into girls.” Leave it to Tsu to be blunt and direct with what was on your mind.

“I support you, Tsu. I’m pans,” you say with a smile.

“So am I!” Mina gives you a little fistbump.

“I’m bi…” Momo smiles.

“Same here!” Ochako clasps her hands together, happy.

“I am also bi.” Kyoka looks at Momo with a bit of hope. You can always tell.

“Momo, how have things changed between you and Todoroki?” you ask.

“U-Um… He likes someone else… And so do I.”

“Who? It’s only fair if we’re going around.”

“She’s here.” She hides her face in her hands. “J-Jiro-san, um…” And another match is made.

“Momo?! I-I like you too!”

“Really?” Her dark eyes shine with excitement. “Oh, that makes me so happy!”

“Okay lovebirds, save this for later. Ochako, who do you like? Everyone must speak the truth~”

“Well, it’s complicated. I used to really admire Deku-kun, and I think I confused that with love. But…” She looks over at Tsu, and takes hold of her hand. “Tsuyu, I think of you as much more than a friend.”

“I do, too. I stood back for a bit because I thought it was obvious you liked Midoriya, but… thank you for telling me now.”

“And that just leaves (Y/N)!” Mina shakes your arm, eager to know. Her yellow eyes implore with you. You gulp, but muster up the courage to tell them.

“I really like Sero-kun…”

“Sero? Why? Not much really stands out about him, unless you count his hero training. He’s a rather exceptional and admirable student, but I can’t say I took much interest in him.” Momo did  like Todoroki, the most capable boy in the class, so you figured she’d say something like this.

“I’m sorry, but I have to say he’s kind of plain, too.”

You frown. “No, he’s actually quite handsome. And very charming. There’s a lot more to him than shown at first glance, and he always manages to give me fun surprises. Well, not me  directly… He barely spares me a glance, but he’s bright and optimistic and he smells like oranges and cinnamon…”

Mina scoffs. “Please. That dude only wears strong citrus-scented cologne to cover up the smell of weed-” She catches herself. “Curse me and my big mouth. I didn’t say a word. Got that?”

“He smokes?” Momo frowns, looking a bit disappointed.

“Him and Denki, actually. Well, Denki mainly vapes. He calls it being electric, I call it him being a dumbass. Our squad has some issues.”

“So what is it about Kirishima that you like, anyways?”

“Well, his hair, for one. But mainly? We scarcely knew each other even though we went to the same middle school, but an incident where me and my friends ran into a villain happened, and I didn’t notice at the time, but he was there, watching, not able to move in and help. He felt really bad, especially since he’d been so hyped about becoming a hero and going to UA. It really changed him, and he dyed his hair red and gelled it up like that. He promised me he’d become the most manly hero he could be!” She smiles.

You nod. “Mina, Kyoka, you’re both friends with Sero-kun, right? Can you please figure out who he likes?”

“We’ll try, (Y/N)-chan.” Kyoka nods in acknowledgement at Mina’s words. You give a sigh of relief. You can breathe, now. Hopefully, he doesn’t like someone else. Ideally, he’d like you, but… You’ll have to wait and see. The most optimistic option you have in mind is that he doesn’t see anyone  that way.

♡♡♡

You cannot believe they ask him aloud in class. You sit right next to him and Kyoka, and she turns around to talk to him before class starts!!! You immediately sit up straight, on high alert of his every action and word.

“Hey, Sero, do you like anyone?” So straightforward, you want to curl up into a ball and disappear.

“Hm? Why do you ask?”

“Just curious.”

“Not really, no.” The phrase rings in your ear, and you smile slightly, relieved. Moments later, as Aizawa-sensei drones on, she jabs you lightly with her earlobe and hands you a note.

“Why did you smile? That’s not a good answer. We need to make you real noticeable, real quick. Come over to my dorm, later.”

And so you do. “I don’t really understand what’s going on… Woah.” As you’d never really gotten a proper look at Kyoka’s room, you only just now realized the full extent of her musical talent. “Holy shit, you’re awesome.”

She hands you a mic. “Thanks. Sing.” She hands you her phone, which has Spotify opened up on it. “Pick a song, sing a bit of it.” You turn a bright red, unsure. But eventually, you give in and pick “Lovely,” by Billie Eilish. “Good choice.”

You start to sing the song with little confidence. But… The music stirs inside of you, and soon, you try your very best at the hobby. Despite not being all that loud, passersby stop to listen as you pour your heart out into the mic. You don’t even notice until most of the class is at the door, and your words immediately catch in your throat when you see Sero… The tips of your ears burn… “Kyoka-chan!” you hiss under your breath at her. She rolls her eyes.

“You have a very nice voice, (Y/N). Shall I teach you how to play something?”

You can’t bear to turn back around and storm off into your dorm room, so you snake an arm behind you to the doorknob and quickly shut Kyoka’s door on the very amused expressions of your classmates. “Sure.”

♡♡♡

“Is this outfit a bit tight, (Y/N)?”

“It’s fine. Why are you fitting me into this again?”

“Because the class is going out tonight for dinner and a movie, and we figured this would be an opportune time to catch Sero’s attention again.”

Seriously?  They’d been doing this all week. It had been attracting attention but from the wrong guys. Not just Mineta, but Shoji and Sato too. Both kind and caring classmates, but you weren’t all that enthused when they confessed to you. You turned them down as politely as you could and moved on. Maybe Sero just isn’t all that interested in girls or romance right now. But at night you dreamed of him, holding you in his arms and murmuring sweet Spanish in your ears — a language you’d been trying to learn in private on your own time ever since the day you discovered he knew it.

You felt so stupid for the notion.

When you arrived at the restaurant with your classmates, the seating had been reserved like it was a fancy Italian place. There were even place cards. Iida and Momo had set this up — although Iida helped reluctantly — and you freaked out internally when you took your seat next to a smiling Hanta Sero. You tried your best not to stare or let your emotions reflect on your face. God damn were your friends persistent. And annoying. Tsu sat on the other side of you, but she was next to Ochako, so you couldn’t bother the two lovebirds while you tried to maintain an actual conversation with your crush.

“U-Um, guys?” Kyoka. Momo nudged her encouragingly with a large smile. Oh, right. Today was the day. “We, the girls, have something we’d like to tell you all…”

“Sure, go ahead.” Todoroki remained expressionless as always but seemed interested otherwise.

“Momo and I are dating… And Tsu and Ochako-chan are dating.”

“Seriously? The hero course has no time for such matters!” Iida stood, waving his hands frantically. The class president was succinct and stiff as per usual, but Ochako and Midoriya both laughed at his expense.

“Yeah? And you totally weren’t crushing on Mei Hatsume from the support course quite recently.” Damn, you had no idea that Midoriya could tease or poke fun at anybody so willingly.

“Well, if we’re announcing relationships, Kirishima and I got together yesterday.”

Denki blinks. “I’ve dated Shinso from the support course for months now.”

“Holy shit- You’re gay?!” Mineta. Typical of him and Denki to form shenanigans on getting girls, he was the most shocked.

“Bi, actually.” He blushed.

Midoriya glances over at Todoroki, then Bakugo. “My friends already knew this but, Shoto, Kacchan, and I have been in a poly relationship since the first karaoke night we did.”

“Wait, seriously? The three most competent students in the class?”

He blushes. “I’d say Tokoyami, Iida, and Momo are much more competent than I am you guys…” And Sero. You sink further into your chair and feel extremely insecure as all the hottest students in our class come forward with secret relationships. All except for Aoyama, Iida, Sato, Koda, Shoji, Tokoyami, and of course Mineta. And Sero.

It always came back to him.

“Who do you like, (Y/N)?” You respond by glaring daggers at Mina.

No one.” You slide further down into your seat. Could they be any more irritating? You were far too shy to admit anything in front of your class, let alone in front of the very guy causing your stomach to flutter with butterflies.

“Aww, she’s so shy! How cute!!!”

“Please be quiet.”

“Fine, fine, we won’t pry.” And just in time, too. The food ordered arrives at our table. Your plate is handed to you, and everyone digs in, famished. You reach out for a napkin, just as Sero does, bumping into his tape dispenser Quirk and as a result knocking over your glass of water. It spills across the table and into your lap. You immediately spring out of your seat, the jeans your friends graciously lent you sopping wet and dripping. You’re sure your entire body is red with shame and embarrassment as your friends rush over to help, napkins at the ready. You push them away and run off to the restroom to calm your nerves.

What type of restaurant has only one room bathrooms? One sink, one paper towel dispenser, one toilet. Luckily it’s vacant, and you lock yourself in. As soon as you lock the door, you kick at the base of the doorframe, angry with yourself. You know it’s not that big of a deal, not with such understanding classmates. Still, you can’t help but feel humiliated and even more insecure with yourself than you were prior to that mistake. You couldn’t even start up a conversation with Sero, and you sure as hell couldn’t not make a fool of yourself in front of him, either. You grasp at the few paper towels left in the roll and let out a frustrated scream. You try to dry your pants, to no avail. In the end, you just strip out of them and hang them on the railing next to the toilet.

And then you cry. A bit. Not loud, hysterical sobbing, of course. Just a few, silent tears.

Stupid feelings. Stupid friends, stupid classmates, stupid Hanta Sero for making you feel this way and being completely oblivious about it. Stupid, stupid you. You lean your back against the door.

Moments later, you hear a knock.

A familiar, silk voice immerses from behind the door. “(L/N)? Are you okay? I’m sorry…” You keep quiet. “I thought I might offer some help? Come on, talk to me. Are you angry?” You turn a bright red.

“No, I’m not angry at you. But unless you can offer an entirely new set of pants I’m afraid there’s not much that can be done.”

“Actually, Momo made some jeans, if you want them. You know, it’s okay to feel embarrassed. It could’ve happened to any of us. It happens to the best of us.” He chuckles, and you can sense the goofy grin plastered on his face. It makes you blush even more.

You turn and unlock the door. He steps in, handing you the jea… His eyes flit down. Oh my god. Your shirt is long, luckily, so he doesn’t see anything, but your bare legs glisten in the dim light of the bathroom and you flush an even deeper red. “This night cannot get any worse…” You take the jeans and push him out. He looks shell shocked, but he stammers out a sorry as soon as you shut the door in his face. “It’s fine, I just. Ughhhh…” You pull on the jeans as you frown endlessly just thinking about everything that’s gone wrong tonight. “It’s not your fault, I’m the idiot who let you in without thinking.” You open the door, clothed now, scratching the back of your neck, eyes fixed on the ground.

Despite your rather obvious embarrassment, he manages a small smile. “Hey, don’t worry about it too much.”

“I am accident-prone. Please don’t tell anyone about this…?”

“Wouldn’t dream of it, cariño.” You look up, surprised.

“Huh?”

“Term of endearment in Spanish. Too much?”

You laugh, trying your best to play it off as though your heart isn’t racing like crazy right now. “Nah, it’s fine. We should head back to the table. Wait — do you speak Spanish?”

“Yeah, do you?”

“Very little.” You smile sheepishly.

“Cool.” He smiles back.

You thank Momo for the jeans, and the dinner carries on as though nothing happened. Thank god.

Still, there’s the movie to think about. How are you going to screw up that?

You settle into your seat, next to Mina and Kirishima. You can do this. You steel your nerves and glance at the seat beside you. Him. Of course. Your friends have managed to place you next to him again. He gives you that grin again and offers you popcorn from his bag. “Ah, um, are you sure?”

“Yeah, go on.” He hands you some, and you flinch at skin contact. You’re being extremely obvious right now… But you can’t help it, and you’re sure he doesn’t even notice.

You watch the movie in silence. They want you to strike up a conversation; you can tell. Instead, you take a large sip of your soda and pray to God that your heart rate slows. The movie bores you, and you stare off into space the entire time. Finally, Sero catches your attention. “Muñeca, join me outside?” He smiles, and you nod. “Trust me, I’m bored, too.”

You both step out of the theater room, but he takes it a step further by leaving the building through one of the backdoors. It’s cold and dark out, and your friends made you wear a short-sleeved blouse, so you shiver. He hands you his coat. And… then he brings out a joint. God, Iida would probably kill him if he was caught. He very openly offers it to you once he lights it and you smile sheepishly, but shake your head. “No thanks.”

He takes a hit, breathing deeply, and then exhales. “So… Are your friends bothering you?”

You laugh. “Why?”

“You seemed uncomfortable a lot tonight. Like they were pressuring you to do something.”

“Mhm. Pressuring me to be more confident. More sure of myself." I trace circles into the pavement with my right foot, staring down at the ground.

"You're unsure of yourself?" He raises a skeptical brow. "You've got a great Quirk, and you're brilliant and capable at your hero training." You smile.

You turn a bright red. “Thanks, I guess. Even though I have to wear these gloves practically twenty-four-seven.”

You must appear frustrated because he reaches over and grabs your hand, pulling you to face him, before reaching up and taking hold of your face gently in his free hand. “Mi vida, mi tesoro, ¿por qué tu ceño se frunce?”

This can’t be happening. Hanta Sero, caressing your cheek lightly with his thumb — it sends an unwanted shiver down your spine. You pull away, still blushing — it shows profoundly on your cheeks — and you mumble, “Too close, Sero-kun…” He drops his hand, looking confused. How dense. You barely understood what he asked, too. “In english please? I only know a little Spanish…”

He blushes and turns his head away, averting his dark eyes away from your own (e/c) ones. “I-I s-s-said why do you seem upset?”

“Because my Quirk is fucking stupid.” You roll your eyes, exasperated. “Sometimes the bullets will shoot out of my fingertips without my will and it’s annoying, not to mention dangerous. I have to wear these metal-fiber gloves to contain it.” He nods, understanding.

“Hey, that’s okay… When I was in middle school, my tape would shoot out at random too. I worked hard all summer before the entrance exam and got a hold on it, and I know you will, too. So cheer up, eh muñeca?” He smiles. You give him a small smile back. “(Y/N)-” you look up, surprised at that, “-I said… earlier… ‘My life, my treasure, why is your brow scrunched up?’” He chuckles, before flicking your forehead, lightly. “Like that. I don’t like those lines of worry in your expression. I like you.”

“S-Seriously?” Your eyes widen at the prospect, and brighten at the possibility that he might be telling the truth.

“Si, seriously.”

You smile, then laugh. “Oh, god, I thought I was royally screwing up everything tonight. I like you too, Sero-kun.”

“Please, call me Hanta.”

“If I must.” You giggle, and he wraps an arm around your waist, pulling you in for a quick kiss.

“Excuse me for being bold, mi amor, but I wanted this since I first laid eyes on you.” He pecks your lips once more with a goofy smile and you wrap your arms around his neck, holding him tight as you receive more sweet soft kisses. “Will you be mine?”

“Yes.”
