Sonic and Sally sat on the wall of the hanging gardens, staring at the sunset and listening to the water cascading down the little cliffs on the last night of their honeymoon.

"It's beautiful." Sally said. "It doesn't seem like the war happened at all."

Sonic nodded.

"You're awfully quiet." Sally replied.

"I'm just enjoying the moment." Sonic said. He kissed her.

Sally smiled and laid her head on his shoulder.

Sonic didn't have the heart to tell her that was only half of it. He had another seizure while they watched the sunset.

He slowly moved to put his arm around her and winced.

"Nerve pain again?" Sally asked.

"A little." Sonic replied. "I'm fine though."

"Let me know if you need to go back to the cottage." Sally said. "Don't force yourself to do anything you're not able to."

Sonic rubbed her arm. "Don't worry, Sal, I'm fine."
*
Sonic rolled in the door with Sally by his side.

"We're home, everybody." Sonic called.

Tails came flying into the room. "I missed you." He said, hugging Sonic.

"Missed you too." Sonic replied.

Sonia, Knuckles, and Queen Aleena came in to greet Sonic and Sally.

"Where's Manic?" Sonic asked. "Out with Jade?"

"He just got home." Sonia said. "Jade would've stayed to see you two, but she got called in.

Sonic looked at Sally. "Why don't you give Tails his present while I check on Manic?"

Tails took Sally's hand. "Come on, I want to show you the picture Aunt Sonia helped me make for you." He said, dragging her to the living room.

Knuckles pushed Sonic to the stairs.

"I'll catch up with you all in a minute." Sonic said over his shoulder.
*
Sonic rolled into Manic's room.

Manic laid in his bed, staring at the ceiling with his headphones on his ears.

"What're you listening to?" Sonic asked. "Do you mind if I listen too?"

"You don't like my emo music, remember?" Manic asked.

"I know, but I don't feel like doing anything else." Sonic replied. "I guess we can just talk instead."

Manic helped Sonic onto the bed. He took his headphones off and turned off his phone. "Glad you made it home." He said. "Did you enjoy it?"

"Yeah, we went to the hanging gardens." Sonic replied. "It looks so much better now that we can have gardeners tending to it."

I haven't been there since the whole Sonic tonic thing." Manic said.

"How was the musical?" Sonic asked.

"About as hilarious as you could expect." Manic replied. "During the shark's first number, Jade and I laughed so hard we couldn't breathe. My sides still hurt."

Sonic could feel another seizure coming on. "Ah, great."

"Another seizure?" Manic asked.

Sonic spaced out and snapped back a few seconds later. He sighed. "I hate this."

Manic patted Sonic on the shoulder. "I know you do."

Tails, wearing the shell necklace Sonic and Sally gave him, and Sally came in with a couple of little canvases.

Sally sat down beside Sonic and stroked his spines. "Are you feeling okay?"

"I just had another seizure." Sonic replied. He noticed Tails' canvas. "What you got, little- uh… what do you want me to call you now?"

"I think I still prefer little bro." Tails said. He turned the canvas around to show the picture he painted of himself, Sonic, and Sally. "I know it's not as good as Aunt Sonia's paintings, but she said it's the thought that counts."

"I love it, Tails." Sonic said. "We need to hang it up somewhere."

Tails grinned. "I'm glad you like it." He said. "You look tired. Maybe you should get some sleep. I can show you all the things I made while you and Mom were out."

"Sounds good to me." Sonic replied.
