You might wonder how Moon ended up like this. Her, wearing a dress that's longer than she would be comfortable with, looking for some random woman that she never met before, just because that random woman might be either a next possible victim or the so much wanted criminal. This is not how Moon expected this week to go. She thought that maybe she could have a break for once and relax a bit. But no! The universe had different plans. Or, well, not the universe but apparently everyone.
While she is looking around at the giant room with way too many people - seriously, why did Merisu not inform her that there would be this many people - she finally spots the random person aka possible next victim slash the "Lady of Ice". So, determined as Moon is - and as much as she wants to do her job - she walks over to this woman with the name Helen Haag who is already looking at the detective with a lot of curiosity.
----------
Meanwhile, Helen Haag and her crew were also looking around the room to spot their "friend" slash enemy.
"Remember. Don't do anything, no matter if it might appear suspicious or not. Just don't do anything. Marc, stop breathing.", the oldest of the group said. To say that Helen is annoyed or frustrated was an understatement. Sure, she isn't the nicest right now - and probably the most suspicious of them - but she was trying her best! She would finally meet the infamous Detective Moon Seel! Who wouldn't react the way she does?
"Shut up, Helen. It's as if you're finally meet your idol, the person who inspired you the most." And to say that Marc is fed up with Helen would also be an understatement. He couldn't understand her whole deal with that detective. Neither could Melina understand it. But Melina long stopped trying to figure out what's going on in Helen's head. Melina is sure that if she ever were to get Helen's thoughts printed on papers, then it would not just be a singular book, but rather a whole series of 13 books that only describes one hour. Melina already doesn't like reading that much - even though she does it often - she doesn't need a whole book series where probably half of it would be ways to off oneself. No thanks.
They all see a certain woman - the detective, as Helen briefly told them - walk over to them. While others would probably think of that woman to be serious and with a goal in mind, Helen had to hold back a laugh. Seriously, everything is a joke to Helen!
----------
When Moon came over to where this so called Helen Haag was, she saw three people - two women and one man. The man - who stood on Moon's left - was almost as tall as her, perhaps only a centimeter taller than her, had orange hair, wore a dark grey suit with a white dress shirt and a red tie. Looking at his face, you could see that his right eye was rather pale, almost white - Moon thinks he might be blind on that eye. He seemed familiar to Moon. She believes that he is a former classmate of hers. On Moon's right was an also tall woman - she seemed to be a centimeter taller than the man - who had reddish hair, brown eyes, wore pink lipstick, and wore an elegant long, red dress. There were some visible bandages around her neck. Moon didn't seem to recognize this woman. There was also a person between those two. Another woman, a very small one compared to all these tall people around her. The woman had short, brown hair - Moon could swear that the hair kind of makes it look like Helen has devil's horns - and wore a cyan suit with cyan gloves and black shoes. Definitely a very flashy color choice. Just like the other woman, Helen also wore bandages around her neck. But as soon as Moon looked at that woman's face, her breath hitched. She knew that this was the person she was to look after today. But she didn't expect this Helen Haag to be like this. A normal person would only see a face that is perhaps a little pale, and eyes that are green with a yellow ring in them. But Moon wasn't just an ordinary person, she wouldn't be such a great detective if she wouldn't notice the details others would miss. She noticed how Helen's eyes seemed almost black while observing Moon. They say that eyes are windows to the soul, and Moon could tell that Helen's soul must be the darkest shade of black that you can find. The eyes seem so devoid of emotion, so devoid of any light. Underneath the eyes, others wouldn't notice anything. But Moon can see the make up that is most likely covering dark eye rings. Also, on her cheeks are the bones showing. Overall, Helen might look perfectly fine to others, but Moon can only see the rather sick and drained face. Something about her just felt off. Helen looks like a nice person, but Moon knows better. Helen was just someone pretending to be good - a wolf in sheep's clothing. Looking at her again, she sees that Helen apparently is also analyzing her the same way Moon just did.
And Moon is right. Helen is indeed observing Moon. Moon wears a long, dark blue dress. She has dark hair, and looking at her face, you can see the slight eye rings and the freckles. She was wearing a dark red lipstick. Moon's eyes were what intrigued Helen the most. One eye was a shade of cyan - one that reminds Helen of a certain old acquaintance - and the other was blue. Her hair is styled in a way Helen has never seen before, and while Helen doesn't really like that hairstyle, it's not for her to decide how someone should style themselves. Everyone has a different taste, this is Moon's taste, and Helen is not to argue about that.
"Can we help you?", the man - Marc Decay, as Moon realized that he truly is an old classmate of hers - asks, sounding rather rude and annoyed as if he didn't want to be here in the first place.
"Geez, Marc, no need to be so mean to people.", the small woman, Helen Haag, says. Her voice was rather deep and slightly raspy - as if she had a sore throat. To be honest, Moon wouldn't be surprised if Helen actually had a sore throat with how sickly she looks. The tallest of the trio - Moon still has no idea who she is - looks at Helen with a slightly surprised look, as if she expected for the smaller to say something different.
Moon just wanted this to be over with. "Actually, yes. Helen Haag?" The smallest of the trio was now fully focused on Moon and looked at her full of curiosity. "I have to ask you to come with me." Helen tilted her head at that odd request. Maybe I should have phrased it differently?
"Why may that be?", the tall woman of the trio - seriously, who is that - asked. "There have been some things going on and Helen Haag is meant to supposedly have some sort of connection to them." Moon didn't want to tell them that it's about the murders.
Moon was confused. For some reason, Helen did not look surprised. Helen looked like she was expecting for this to happen sooner or later. As if she knew exactly Moon is talking about.
"Very well then.", Helen complied. "But before I go with you, I'd like to ask you to watch the play with me." Moon was a little surprised. There was supposed to be a drama play with Elly as the main role. Of course, Moon wanted to see it - merely to support her dear friend. But Moon was here for business. She didn't have time for this. But Moon had the feeling that if she didn't agree to watch it, Helen wouldn't come with her. So, Moon had no other choice.
"Alright. Let's go get a seat then.", Moon said. Helen looked slightly surprised, but covered it quickly and went with Moon to get a seat. The other two stayed at the same spot as before.
Moon read about the play before. A play where someone died and the characters are trying to figure out the murderer. "Do you know what it's about?", Moon asked Helen. "You haven't told me your name yet.", Helen said. Not an answer to Moon's question. Moon can tell that Helen is playing her own game here.
"Moon. Detective Moon Seel.", Moon answered. A little too late did she think that perhaps she shouldn't have revealed that she's a detective. Sometimes, Moon tends to do dumb things and realizes that too late.
"Detective, huh? Of course I know what this play is about. And I have a good idea on who the 'murderer' is.", Helen said with air quotes. Moon didn't try to figure it out before, but now she was intrigued.
"Well? I'm curious to know your speculation.", Moon pulled out a book. It was the script book. Elly gave her one in case Moon felt like reading it. "Then we'll see how wrong you are." Moon knew she sounded obnoxious in that moment. Sometimes she just can't think before speaking. Besides, she's very sure that Helen can't solve the drama play.
"Oh? You think I can't solve it? Very well, let me tell you. There is no 'murderer'. Well, unless you count the victim as the murderer." Moon was confused. No wonder, Moon didn't try figure it out yet. After all, she wanting to get surprised for once. Elly promised that it's near impossible to solve the play and that everyone who already watched the play always suspected the wrong person.
"You mean a suicide?" is what Moon then asks. Is that what Helen Haag is trying to say? That it was a suicide?
"No, silly! That's not what I mean, Detective. What I mean is that the victim died of idiotism." "What is that supposed to mean?" "She most likely ate something she's allergic too." Moon immediately looked into the script book. And there it is. The character died after eating something that contained nuts. The character was allergic to nuts. How did Helen Haag figure this out?
"That's... impressive. How did you know this?" When Moon says that she's impressed, then it's always true. And she never said it before. Well, except for the times when she said it about how the "Lady of Ice" got away without leaving a trace... Could it be..?
"Well, I read the first two scenes and read through the character list. There were three theories I had. A new character that wasn't part of the first and second scene, one of the already introduced characters, or she killed herself somehow. First theory immediately landed in the trash after reading the character list. All characters from the list appear in the first two scenes - except the victim of course. The second theory seemed likely, but that's where theater logic comes in. Such a play always needs a plot twist, no matter how boring it is. If it was one of the already introduced characters, then it would be a boring play without a plot twist. No one likes that. That leaves only the third option: She somehow killed herself. Some minutes ago, you thought I meant a suicide. How did I know it wasn't a suicide? In the first two scenes, we get to know about the victim's personality. She supposedly thought too much of herself. Sure, that could've been all pretend when she's actually suffering. But this play is meant to be comedic, they wouldn't do such a dramatic thing then. So, it had to be some sort of accident that killed her."
If Moon wouldn't have been impressed before, then she would definitely be now. She still has no idea how Helen thought that it might have an allergy that killed the victim, but that's for another day.
"You know, you could make a great detective.", Moon said and she meant it. "That's nice of you, but I am nowhere near fit to be a detective.", Helen answered. Moon was confused. Sure, a drama play is obviously not the same as a real-life case where an actual person got killed, but she had no doubt that Helen could solve even that. Perhaps even solve it better than Moon.
Suddenly, some of the stage lamps fell and almost hit the actors on stage. When did the play start? Helen stared wide-eyed at the fallen lamps, quickly looked to Melina and Marc who only shook their heads. Moon was confused about their silent conversation, but that didn't matter now. Then, a piece of paper fell. It was blue... and in the shape of a snowflake..!
