Sonic, Shadow, and Manic along with Sally, Sonia, and Surge walked up to the gates of the park.

“Wow, we’re the only guests.” Manic said. “We don’t have to deal with lines. That’ll be sweet.”

Surge shook her head. “I can’t believe I let you talk me into this.”

“He said you’d want to go.” Shadow replied.

“I would if it wasn’t built by Egghead.” Surge said. “What part of this sounds like it’s not gonna be trouble? Why do you think we’re the only guests?”

“That’s why we have to investigate, Babe.” Manic replied. “And, as a bonus, we get to see a velociraptor. I hope we get to hold a baby one.”

“Mom must’ve dropped you on your head a lot when you were a baby, Manic.” Sonic said.

Manic rolled his eyes.

Shadow reluctantly paid for everyone’s tickets. “You can pay us back later.” He said to Sonic and Manic.

“Way ahead of you.” Manic and Sally said, tapping on their phones.

Sonic laughed. “Oh, look at Egghead.” He said, pointing at Dr. Eggman.

Dr. Eggman was dressed as John Hammond and carrying a cane with the mosquito in amber tip.

“Nice cosplay, Egghead.” Sonic said. “For real, great job.”

“What do you mean by ‘cosplay’?” Eggman asked. “This is my special occasion suit.”

Everyone exchanged glances.

“Who asked you to come anyway?” Dr. Eggman asked.

“You put a public ad on Instagram.” Shadow replied. “Being bored out of my skull at the mall while my irritating-”

Sonia gave Shadow a look.

“I mean, lovely wife looked at shoes.” Shadow said. “So I didn’t think it would be a bad idea to mention it to Sonic and Manic. Clearly, I made a huge mistake.”

“Alright, I suppose your money is just as good as anyone else’s.” Dr. Eggman muttered. He opened the gate. “Welcome to Jurassic- uh- Eggman’s Dino Park.”

Sonic and Shadow led the way into the park.

Manic shook Sonic’s arm. “Look, a baby apatosaurus!”

Sonic sighed. “Go ahead and pet it.”

Manic stepped over and petted the baby dinosaur while it nuzzled his side. “Aww.”

Surge petted a baby stegosaurus. “It is pretty cute.”

Sonic patted a baby brachiosaurus on the head. “I wonder why the baby T-Rex and velociraptor aren't out.” He said sarcastically.

“Because I could get sued if they bite.” Dr. Eggman replied. “Now, to see the adults, you’ll have to ride in the vans.”

Dr. Eggman motioned to dull gray vans on a track.

“You clearly spared expenses with decorations.” Sonia said.

“I spent it on more worthwhile things like dinosaurs and the technology.” Dr. Eggman said. “If you need anything, there’s a call button in the vehicles and in the visitors center. There’s a gift shop and a cafe in there too.”

Dr. Eggman motioned to a large egg-shaped building.

“If you need anything, there’s a call button in the vehicles and in the visitors center.” Dr. Eggman said. “I’ll be in the safety of my control room.”

Dr. Eggman got on his hovercraft and headed to the visitor center.

Sonic looked at the others. “For some reason, that felt a little… uh….”

“Ominous.” Sally said. “Yeah. Let’s get this over with.”

The group headed for the tram.

Shadow and Sonia sat in the front of the van while Sonic and Sally were in the middle and Manic and Surge sat in the back.

Manic looked out the window. “Ooh, a T-Rex!”

He exclaimed.

Sonia looked over and quickly looked away. “Ew! I didn’t need to see it eat a deer.”

“He’s starving these animals if that’s all he’s feeding them.” Shadow said.

The van made its way to the Dilophosaurus pen.

Surge groaned. “Why doesn’t the Dilophosaurus have fins?”

“Because the movie embellished that.” Sally said, glancing back at Surge.

“Well, why couldn’t Egghead do the same?” Surge asked.

The car speaker crackled on. “Good question, I didn’t think of that.” Eggman said.

“He’s listening in?” Sonic asked.

Manic pointed to the mirror. “There’s a camera clipped to it.”

Sonic leaned closer to the camera. “Not cool, Egghead.”

The van shut off.

“What did you touch, Shads?” Sonic asked.

“Nothing.” Shadow said. “You probably bumped something.”

Sonic looked at the console he was leaning on. “No, it’s just a compartment; no buttons.”

“My WiFi is out.” Sonia said.

Sally slid her phone in her pocket. “Mine too.”

“What gives?” Manic asked. “It’s a beautiful day.”

“If the car is out, then the fences are down.” Surge said, eyes widening.

Sally gulped. “Oh, no….”

A dinosaur roar echoed through the trees.

Everyone looked around.

“Where is that?” Sonic asked.

Shadow pointed ahead. “There and it’s a Spinosaurus.”

Another roar got their attention.

Manic looked out the back window. “That’s the T-Rex.”

Surge hugged Manic. “Love ya, cute stuff. It was fun while it lasted.”

Manic rubbed Surge’s back. “Babe, we’re gonna be fine.”

“Okay, stay calm.” Shadow said. “As soon as they’re out of sight, we’ll get out and make a run for the visitor center, following the trail the vans were heading down.”

“Are you crazy?” Manic asked. “I can’t run fast.”

“I can.” Surge replied.

“But you can’t carry me.” Manic said.

“I can carry you, bro.” Sonic said, unbuckling his seatbelt.

The van shook as the dinosaurs strutted by.

Surge unbuckled her seatbelt and turned around. “Okay, they’re heading into the forest.” She said, looking out the back window. “As soon as they’re out of sight, let’s get out.”

Everyone else unbuckled their seatbelts.

“They’re in the forest.” Surge said. “Let’s go.”

Everyone got out of the car.

A velociraptor shrieked in the distance.

“Where are they?” Sonia asked.

“They probably have us surrounded.” Manic replied.

Sonic picked up Sally and Manic. “It’s okay, we’re faster.”

Shadow picked up Sonia.

“Go.” Sonic said, running off.

Surge and Shadow ran after Sonic.

A pack of five velociraptors rushed out of the bushes, onto the trail.

Sally clung to Sonic.

“Awesome!” Manic exclaimed.

Sonic sped up. “Gotta go fast.”

Surge screamed. “Manic!”

Manic fought to get down. “Sonic, stop.”

Sonic slowed down a little. “Manic, stop, I’ll-”

A velociraptor pounced on Sonic as Sonia screamed in the distance.

Sonic dropped Sally and Manic.

Sonic jabbed the velociraptor with his spines.

Manic scrambled to his feet and raced to save Surge as the velociraptor ran away from Sonic.

“He’s pretty fast.” Sally said, shaking.

Sonic ran over to Sally and picked her up. “Where’s Manic?”

Sally exhaled loudly. “He ran toward Surge.” She replied. She started crying. “Sonic, they’re-”

Sonic and Sally flinched as gunshots rang out.

“That’s got Shads written all over it.” Sonic said.

Shadow walked over with Sonia, Surge, and Manic.

Surge and Manic were scratched, bruised and their clothes were ripped. She was now wearing Manic’s vest and had it completely zipped up. She had a piece of her right ear missing while Manic had a piece missing out of both ears.

Manic’s right arm looked broken. He held Surge with his good arm. “Velociraptor had Surge.” He said, voice shaking. I tried to fight it.”

“Took me a while to get my gun because Sonia was trying to climb on top of my head and screaming like crazy.” Shadow said.

Sonic checked his siblings for injuries. “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” Sonia said. “Manic and Surge got hurt the worst.”

“Worry about that later.” Surge snapped. “Let’s go.”

Shadow picked up Surge and Sonia while Sonic picked up Manic and Sally.

Shadow and Sonic raced back to the visitor’s center.
