Tails tapped his fingers on the table as he waited for Manic.
Manic shuffled in with a puzzled look and took his seat at the desk. He picked up the phone at the same time as Tails picked up his phone. “I’m surprised you’re here.” He said. “I wasn’t expecting anyone to show up since I’m getting out next week.”
Tails slid the picture into the drawer. “I’m hoping you can explain.” He replied. “Time is of the essence.”
Manic looked at it and sighed. “Why are you showing me that?”
“This was taken a few days ago.” Tails said.
“It’s gotta be an android.” Manic replied. “She fell at least several stories, she can’t be alive.”
“Does she have cyborganics?” Tails asked.
“Yeah, we both do.” Manic replied. “She has more cyborganics than me.”
Tails gave Manic a look.
“So she may be able to take a fall better than any Mobian, but still.” Manic said.
“I have reason to believe she’s still alive.” Tails replied. “I’ll explain the details when you’re released next week. Now, who did you work for?”
Manic tensed up. “I dunno, dude.” He said.
Tails raised an eyebrow.
“I’ll explain later.” Manic mouthed to Tails.
Tails nodded. “Of course.” He said. “So what are you doing when you get out?”
Manic gave a low whistle. “I’m hoping my art and music can take off.” He replied. “Might be able to work with Sis. She said she’d vouch for me. I’m gonna stay with Uncle Chuck. I was gonna stay with Ma, but the plans fell through, y’know.”
Tails nodded. “Awesome.” He said. “I’m happy to be a reference for you.”
“Thanks, bro.” Manic replied. “I gotta go to work, man. I’ll see ya later.”
“See you.” Tails said.
Tails and Manic hung up the phones, got up, and left the room.
Tails made it outside of the correctional facility and called Shadow on his communicator. “Hey, he can’t tell us much until next week.”
“Great.” Shadow muttered. “Well, whoever his girlfriend works for is back to using hypnotic stuff in certain areas in Mobius. We found some signals; we went out and handled it.”
“Okay, I’ll join you in a minute.” Tails said.
“Track my location, I gotta go.” Shadow replied.
“Chaos blast it!” Sonia yelled in the background.
A muffled Chaos blast exploded as Shadow hung up.
Tails activated his medallion and flew off for the battle. He searched the location on his watch and headed for the coordinates, which was in East Mobius.
Drones similar to Eggman’s robots were firing blasts at Sonia’s team as some citizens tried to fight the team as well.
Tails noticed a nearby transmission tower and fired a blast at it.
The citizens stopped attacking and began wondering where they were and why they were there.
Shadow defeated the last drone. “Where was the controller, Tails?”
“There, on the roof of that building.” Tails said, motioning to the tower.
“I’ll fly around to find the rest of the towers.” Rouge said. She flew away.
“I’ll join her.” Tails said. He flew after Rouge.
Shadow dusted his hands off. “Our work here is done.”
Aleena, Mindy, and Sonia de-activated their medallions.
“Okay, Sonia and I will clean up here.” Shadow said. “You all can go home.”
“Might as well help you out.” Mindy replied.
Everyone else agreed.

Surge stood by the tubes in the cryogenics area of the lab, looking at her twins. “Your dad would’ve been thrilled.” She said, sitting on the floor. “He tried to sell me on the idea of having kids not long before he…. I mean, you two are cool. I just never gave it much thought. I’m sure you’ll think I’m not mother of the year once you’re out.”
Surge scoffed. “I’m not even in the top ten of best moms.” She muttered. She noticed the babies moving their little fingers and laughed weakly. “Just like Manic.”
Surge sat there until she finally fell asleep, slumping to the floor.
