Sonic joined Tails in his workshop and sat down on the desk. “So is it a simple fix?”
“Yeah, pretty much.” Tails replied. “It seemed like the Chaos drives weren’t making a good connection. They probably got jarred out of place by movement and vibrations during the concert.”
“That makes sense.” Sonic said. “So are they ready?”
“Yeah.” Tails replied. He gathered the medallions and handed them to Sonic. “Have you found the last Chaos Emerald yet?”
Sonic handed the Chaos Emerald to Tails. “Found it this morning.”
Tails grinned. “Sweet, I’ll take it to Mom later.”
Sonic stuffed the medallions into his hoodie pocket. “See you later, Tails.” He said. “If you need me, I’ll be at Rouge’s place in Mobodoon.”

Sonic met up with Manic and Surge by the pool of Rouge’s estate in Mobodoon.
Manic looked at Sonic. “Hey, did Tails get the medallions fixed?”
Sonic pulled Manic’s medallion out and handed it to him. “He said he thought the Chaos drive might’ve lost connection.”
Manic put the medallion back on. “Maybe.” He replied. “I’m so glad it’s back. I kept trying to sing, but nothing.”
Manic motioned to the kids playing in the pool. “The kids were so disappointed.”
Sonic nodded. “I can imagine.”
A ring portal opened up.
Tails stepped through it.
“Hey, little bro.” Manic said.
“Where’s Sonia?” Tails questioned.
Sonic’s eyes widened. “Y’know, I have no idea.”
“She’s out with Shadow, but I don’t know where they went.” Manic said.
“Judging by the look on your face, she’s done something wrong.” Sonic said, sitting down on one of the deck chairs.
“She lied to Mom.” Tails said, sitting down beside Sonic.
Sonic narrowed his eyes. “So Mom has no idea about the side quest.” He replied. “What has Sonia been telling her?”
“That it was taking a while to find the emeralds.” Tails said. “Oh, and the Oracle gave an important message before he died
two weeks ago.”
Sonic groaned. “Why did I have to go out for chili dogs?”
“Who’s the Oracle?” Manic asked. “I have a feeling this isn’t gonna be good.”
“Okay, the Oracle is the wisest member of the Guardians.” Tails replied. “He… he’s not like a prophet, but he analyzes situations and can nearly predict the outcomes.”
“Sonia told me he was psychic or something.” Sonic said.
“He liked to keep an air of mystery about him.” Tails replied. “I know his secrets. Anyway, he thought we came across our successes too easily and that something is up.”
“Yeah, kinda weird we hadn’t crossed paths with the echidna or whatever you said it was.” Surge said.
“So what if it is?” Manic asked. “We got the Emeralds.”
Tails shrugged. “I’m not sure.”
Another ring portal opened up.
Shadow and Sonia stepped through it.
Surge glanced at the kids. “Fill me in later, Cute stuff.” She said, getting up. “I gotta get the kids their lunch.”
Surge walked over to the pool.
“Well, Sonia.” Sonic said, turning to face her. “Care to tell us why you lied to Mom?”
Sonia sighed. “Please don’t scold me, she already did that.” She replied. “I’m sorry. I just wanted to help Manic. I felt sorry for him.”
“Thanks so much, by the way.” Manic said.
“You’re welcome.” Sonia replied.
Sonic leaned back in his seat. “So Mom scolded you?”
“Yeah, about the lies and not telling you all about the Oracle.” Sonia said. “She seems to believe that he’s right and there’s a dire threat.”
Manic looked at Sonic. “Should we take this seriously?”
“We’re not gonna panic, but we’re gonna be on guard.” Sonic said. “The echidna is still out there.”
“Shadow set up the security system for the emerald shrine and Mother said that we can do the charity concert.” Sonia replied. “She didn’t lecture me nearly as much as she would’ve after she heard Manic’s story. She’s gonna be at the concert.”
“That sounds like a lie.” Sonic said.
“It’s not; I was there.” Shadow replied.
Manic checked his watch. “A’ight, I gotta get something to eat.” He said, getting up. “You want to join us?”
Sonic got up. “Thanks, but I’m meeting Sally for lunch.”
“I have some work to do.” Tails said, getting up. “Shadow, can you help me out with the security situation?”
“Fine, you need to be briefed on the systems.” Shadow replied.
“Mother and I are going on a shopping trip for the first time ever.” Sonia said. She squealed. “I’m so excited.”
“Alright, see ya.” Manic replied. He headed inside as everyone left the house.

Manic sat down at the table. “Is it possible to be grateful and wondering what on Mobius I got us into at the same time?”
Surge sighed as she slid Manic’s sandwich plate closer to him. “Was there anything new?”
“No, not really.” Manic said. “They think the echidna will be a problem. At least Queen Aleena is supposed to be okay with us.”
“That’s good to know.” Surge replied.
Cyber slid her empty plate aside. “Daddy, can you sing again now?”
“Yeah, finally.” Manic said, smirking.
Cyber got up and hugged Manic. “I’m happy for you.”
“Thanks, little dudette.” Manic replied.
“Let your dad eat now.” Surge said. “He can sing later. Oh, and you three can watch his concert on Saturday.”
The kids cheered.
“Save some of that energy for the concert.” Manic said. “I need my biggest fans to cheer me on.”
“Yes, Dad.” Glitch and Nikós replied.
“Yes, Daddy.” Cyber said.
