Why, o why, o why, o why the constant use of manipulative Dumbledore? It's both paranoid and self-defeating.Author's response
Because I don't see Dumbledore in any other way, unless you think he is totally incompetent. Having written him that way for 3 1/2 years, over numerous stories, I still don't see any reason to change, other than the exact balance between manipulative and incompetent.

I like this story a great deal more than my current time travel piece. I think I'll have to restart that one from scratch at some point.
Hermione is one of my favorites as well. I like that she'd fantasized about both Ron and Harry, and let their behavior help show her where her true feelings were.
All in all, it's an impressive start, and I can't wait to read more.Triwizard Redux

Nice start. Why do I get the impression that the person who drank the poison meant for Harry was Luna.
Sounds like Snape is evil in this story. I always like Snape-abuse in fictions :-)
One problem - I'm writing a story (don't write near as fast as you) and planned to have Harry talk his way past the dragon in the first task. I probably still will (I've set it up, even though I've only reached the beginning of "Prisoner") but will acknowledge that you wrote it first. Good job.
Thanks for writing

If it helps, Harry doesn't directly use Parseltongue to speak to the dragon (otherwise Harry would have understood the dragons in canon). Instead, he had learned a spell which allows a Parselmouth to temporarily speak with a dragon. I've seen other fics where Harry can use Legilimency on dragons. If you have another way for it to work, more power to you!
And yes, it was Luna who sacrificed herself.

Sweet chapter. I've read a couple of other fics where Harry comes back in 4th year but none where he is able to keep him memories and magical power. I am looking forward to the next chapter.Triwizard Redux

That's what doesn't make any sense. It seems to be based on the idea that Dumbledore is or should be omniscient. He is either manipulative becuase he knows everything that is going on everywhere and allows it to happen, or he is incompetent because he doesn't know everything. It's a point of view doesn't seem to take into account the actual possibility that he neither knows everything nor is supposed to (or somehow flawed for not) knowing everything. It doesn't make any sense at all.Triwizard Redux

this is a good story. I like that harry is talking to hermoine and helping to protect her. It is nice that harry was able to talk to the dragon.Triwizard Redux

Good grief, and I thought "Harry's Second Chance" was paced fast! In one page we've got time travelling Harry explaining everything to Hermione and offering her a promise ring all before (or at) lunch!
Is this a one-shot or will there be further chapters? This is entitled as 'Chapter 1', but maybe it's rather 'vignette #1' of these several you mention you're working on?
I enjoyed the first couple of pages the best, actually ... again I liked your authorial explanation of what Hermione could get out of a relationship with Harry, her hopes in that direction. Plus I thought your extraploation of what Ron would do, devoid of Harry, was well reasoned and perfectly in character (with Ron as he was then). He'd rallied Harry against Hermione in PoA in the broom incident; it stands perfectly to reason that he would have no problems in again selecting her as a target.
Some nice romantic images in this ... Hermione physically supporting Harry to Dumbledore's office (his fever was due to the merge with the time traveller, I guess?); their first hug in the Room of Requirement; and the idea of Harry's "lady" flying her knight's banner.
Thanks for the continuing entertainment!Author's response
This is 12 chapters and 2 epilogues, and yes, it is fast, as it was an afterthought that wouldn't go away. Glad you liked Ron's characterization.

I like this story so far, although the intro seems a bit too quick, yet faster paced than your second chance story. Can't wait for the next chapter. I've never liked the weasleys very much, much to inbreeding and jealousy in them still.Author's response
Well, there's not a lot of Weasley-bashing, but they don't look that great, either.
