"So Emily Saunders seriously kissed you?" Spencer demanded for what seemed like the hundredth time. They sat at their regular table in the cafeteria. Ryan couldn't help but notice that Emily was around. He convinced himself that she had a meeting or something. She was the student council president.
"Yeah.... she seriously kissed me. It didn't mean anything though. It was just a friendly thing." Ryan explained, playing with his food. Just then, his cell phone rang. He didn't recognize the number on the caller id, but decided to pick it up anyways. "Emily? Are you okay? Oh my god... stay where you are, I will be right there." Ryan grabbed his stuff. "Sorry Spence, I have to go but I will call you later." Ryan jumped into his car and sped to the other side of town and found Emily's house. The door was slightly opened, so Ryan let himself in. He noticed that there was blood on the floor and in a panic, he called Emily's name. She replied faintly, and Ryan found her, sobbing and badly beaten, on the kitchen floor. "Who the fuck did this to you Emily?" He demanded, holding her in his arms.
"It was Dan... he saw us at the mall yesterday... he saw me kiss you and he totally lost it." Emily explained. "I always promised that I would never let this happen to me. I am so fucking stupid." She said weakly.
"What do you mean Em?" Ryan questioned softly, wiping the blood from her face.
"My dad... he beats my mom all the time... the night that we met in the music room was the worst night ever... I knew that if I didn't run, he would come after me. I always swore to myself that if I ever ended up in an abusive relationship, I would leave... after Dan hit me the first time, he was so sorry... well, he said that he was and I was too stupid to see the signs and get out." Emily wailed. Ryan simply picked her up and helped her into the car. "Where are we going?"
"Spencer's house... I am staying with him for a while and we are going there so I can take care of you." Emily nodded slowly, holding onto Ryan's hand as he drove in silence to Spencer's house. Thankfully, the drive wasn't long and when they pulled into the driveway, Spencer ran out to the car to see what had happened.
"Holy shit...." He whispered. "What happened? Emily, are you okay?"
"She's going to be fine but can you help me get her to the bathroom Spencer? We need to get her cleaned up."

A while later, Emily opened her eyes and panicked. She had no idea where she was. She sat up, and her body was in the most intense pain. Moaning loudly, Emily laid back down on the comfortable bed.
"Emily are you awake?" Ryan questioned, rushing to her side.
"Where are we Ryan?" She asked weakly, reaching for his hand. He couldn't help but notice the countless scars that lined her wrist. Ryan climbed into the bed beside her, holding her shaking body close to his. He wanted nothing more than to erase all the pain from her beautiful eyes.
"We're at Spencer's house.... I am staying with him and I brought you here so we could get you cleaned up and everything. I was so worried when I went into that kitchen and found you. You are so beautiful and so smart. You deserve so much more than this." Ryan whispered. Hearing those words brought tears to Emily's eyes and for the first time in her entire life, she actually believed it. She cuddled up to Ryan and drifted in and out of sleep for the next few hours. They were woken up by Spencer who had brought them something to eat.
"How are you Emily?" Spencer asked, placing the tray on the bed for them.
"Better... thanks so much for letting me come here for a while. I will head out after this"
"Where are you going to go?" Spencer questioned. Emily shrugged, realizing that she couldn't go home and she had no where else to go because then she would have to tell her friends what had happened. "Stay here please... we will take tomorrow off and just chill here. Emily let herself cry again for what seemed like the hundredth time that day.
"Thanks Spencer, that means a lot... I really appreciate this and probably don't deserve it. I was never very nice to you guys, and now you're doing this for me. Thanks so much..." Emily hugged each of the boys.
