Brendon's POV
Okay this is the last song we have to perform for him, so I've hit a few odd notes on the last few songs but this one I should nail it. As Ryan started to pluck out the intro to it I could feel my heart racing faster in my chest. As I sang out the words I could tell that he was impressed by the look on his face. This boosted my confidence, and the song went like a first kiss, it was perfect. Although as I sang the last note and almost collapsed doing it in the process I knew things would be tense after what had happened before...
*About forty five minutes earlier*
"So you nervous?" Elspeth asked as I felt her soft hand still entwined with mine, it felt weird.
"Well I was, but you kind of helped with that." I said, I couldn't help but smile as I thought back on it.
"Well that's good." She smiled as I noticed her cheeks go slightly red. I knew that I couldn't go and perform in front of this guy with all this on my mind so I had to speak. "You..." We both spoke at the same time.
"You go first." She said as we came up to Spencer's Grandma's house, I waited until we got to the front door and stopped before we entered, "You know what did happen earlier...well whats happening now." I said while looking down at our hands and smirked.
"Well I like you Brendon, you're different to other guys." She said meaningfully. Okay a girl has never said that to me, I don't know what I'm happier about her liking me or the band having a chance of going somewhere. "Your not too bad yourself." I said while staring deeply into her eyes. She smiled softly and this time I was going to make the move. I carefully placed the piece of hair that was covering her right eye behind her ear. She lent in and I did the same my lips were inches away from hers and then the front door opened to reveal Ryan. I turned around and faced him, "Perfect timing dude." I mumbled under my breath.
"What was that?" He asked raising an eyebrow, I didn't bother saying anything cuz he knew what I said. His eyes stared my hand, which was still knotted with Elspeth's. "You must be Elspeth." He said moving his eyes up to hers.
"Last time I checked I was." She smirked.
"Cool...take you two are together then." He asked us. I looked at her. "I think so." I said nervously.
"You think so now that's a shitty response...anyway you gotta get your ass in the garage cuz the guy will be here any minute." Ryan laughed. I sighed as he walked out the door that left Elspeth and me alone again. "Are we?" I asked anxiously.
"Well if you want to be." She said while biting her bottom lip.
"Well I could answer that in two ways." I said flirtatiously, a bit out of tune for me but I feel confident around her.
"I want option two." She smirked; well I couldn't resist her smile. I let go of her hand and placed my hands on her waist and pulled her closer to me. She lent up at me and I placed my lips delicately onto hers. I deepened the kiss and she put her hands on mine. We could have been stood there all day until Spencer appeared. "Brendon?!" He asked as he stood jaw dropped watching us kissing. I pulled away and stared at him, "Yes?" I smirked.
"Since when? What? Go you! But we need to warm up so get your ass in here." Spencer said speechlessly. I sighed triumphantly and lead Elspeth into the garage.
The others had so many questions to ask me, as we got ready for the guy that was coming to see us. No one said anything but I could see Ryan's lip quiver, as he wanted to know everything there was about Elspeth. I lent against the wall and prepared myself mentally for the performance.
"Spencer can you give this baby something to stop it crying." Hayley said as she entered the room carrying the wailing baby. He rolled his eyes and we exchanged looks. He picked up the can of coke, oh dear god I can see whats coming now. "Give it here." He said trying not to crack a smile.
"What are you going to do to it?" She asked suspiciously.
"Nothing." He said trying to look innocent, I could tell by the way he was speaking that what he was going to do was far from nothing. She scowled at him and chest passed him the baby. "Here you go baby have some cola."
I couldn't help but laugh as Hayley pushed the baby out of his hands leaving him to get coke all on his feet. "What did you do that for?!" Hayley shouted.
"Well coke cheers me up so I thought the thing might feel better after a sip." He said while trying not to laugh.
"Your such an idiot!" She shouted and then stared at me, "And you can shut up as well." I curled my lip, "I haven't said anything." I shouted as she left the room. Although that was very stupid of Spencer it was quite funny. I walked over to the baby that was sat on the floor. "I think you killed it." I said while staring down at it.
"I'll live." Spencer smirked.
"Ding dong! You must be the-" A guy with short black hair said as he entered the garage. Oh shit that must be the guy; we've blown it this time. Ryan ran into the room soon followed by Brent and they halted as he stood their shell shocked at the baby on the floor. After a long silence he finally spoke, "I think I did that to one of those simulators at high school as well." He smirked his smile was priceless. I just stood there and stared at him. "Oh where are my manners, I'm Pete Wentz. The guy that's thinking about signing you." He walked over to us and we all greeted each other. Holy fuck its Pete Wentz. "Dude your amazing at bass." I said as he introduced himself.
"Thanks, from what I've heard you're an amazing singer." He smirked; he seemed to be doing a lot of that. "Okay lets see what you guys can do!" He cried as we all took our places at the instruments.
*Present time*
We all stood out of breath and exchanged looks of triumph as Pete stood at the foot of the garage clapping his hands and cheering. "Well it can't have been that bad then?" Ryan grinned.
"Oh it was terrible." He paused, "So terrible that I'll just have to sign you guys up straight away." He said while bear hugging all of us one by one. Now this was a day to remember. Elspeth soon ran into the room and wrapped hers arms around me. "I take it you heard then?" I whispered in her ear while placing my arms around her waist.
"Maybe." She whispered back, I could feel her hot breathe in my ear and she hugged me tight. It was perfect this day was perfect. "Elspeth?" I heard Pete's voice echo through my ear. She let go of me and I saw her face drop. "Pete." She said emotionlessly. And that was when everything went wrong...

"Ding dong! You must be the-" A guy with short black hair said as he entered the garage. Oh shit that must be the guy; we've blown it this time. Ryan ran into the room soon followed by Brent and they halted as he stood their shell shocked at the baby on the floor. Elspeth soon ran into the room and wrapped hers arms around me. "I take it you heard then?" I whispered in her ear while placing my arms around her waist.
"Maybe." She whispered back, I could feel her hot breathe in my ear and she hugged me tight. It was perfect this day was perfect. "Elspeth?" I heard Pete's voice echo through my ear. She let go of me and I saw her face drop. "Pete." She said emotionlessly. And that was when everything went wrong...
