The day Ashlee had been dreading had arrived. Summer's funeral. Panic! Decided to stay, since they didn't make it in time to see her alive, they thought it's the least they could do.
Also, Ryan refused to leave Ashlee; he was beginning to fall for this girl.
Ashlee was ready. She was wearing a white fitted shirt, black trousers and a black jacket. Her hair was in a bun supported by some clips. Her make up was simple, some foundation and waterproof mascara.
Ryan and the guys all hired black suits and an array of different colored shirts.
"Ryan?" Ashlee took his hand and laced their fingers.
"Mhhhhhm"
"Will you stay by me at the church?"

Ryan looked into her eyes. She looked so desperate. They all clambered into Spencer "mystery machine van" All in silence. All the boys scared to say something.
Ashlee and Ryan took their seats at the front next to Summer's grandparents and a selection of other relatives.
Then the Fray's how to save a life. Filled the silence in the room. As summer's four best male friends carried the coffin through.

Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
And you begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Let him know that you know best
Cause after all you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Ryan could feel Ashlee harden as the song went on. The lyrics were so personal to her. Almost as though they were written for this very occasion.
Ashlee smiled, She had to. It was her turn to make her speech.
"Summer was my best friend. I remember the first time we met. I was 4, she was 5. She moved in next door, I was riding my bike and I fell. She ran over to help me. And that's how it started.
Everything that has happened in my life. She was there. She was my shoulder to cry on. She was the one person I trusted with anything, Sure we had other friends, but none of them I could trust as much as I trusted her. I have so many amazing memories with her. Summer was amazing, She was the kind of person who could make you smile even when you were heartbroken. I honestly don't know how I will survive without her,"
She took her seat back next to Ryan wrapped his arm round her waist.
As they sat their and watched her Coffin go of the burn.
It's these substandard motels on the (lalalalala) corner of 4th and Fremont Street.
Appealing only because they are just that un-appealing
Any practiced catholic would cross themselves upon entering.
The rooms have a hint of asbestos and maybe just a dash of formaldehyde,
And the habit of decomposing right before your very (lalalala) eyes.

Along with the people inside
What a wonderful caricature of intimacy
Inside, what a wonderful caricature of intimacy
To the sound of her favorite song.
Build god then we'll talk
