Chapter 5: True Fear

I wish I had not come here. Everything is twisted, messed up. At least untill now things have made some form of sense. At least till now they looked familiar. Now...

Well, let me start from when I got here. I knew immediately I shouldn’t have. The buildings were the first thing. I noticed something was wrong when I saw one of them leaning on it’s side about half way up, then twisting up again. Another building is flat, and I mean two dimensional flat.

But the worst thing is the people. God, what is happening here. There faces are twisted. This can’t be natural, it can’t be real. Some of them are normal for the most part, but others are horribly mishapen. Ever seen that painting called Scream or something, they look kind of like that.

I just passed a woman and her child. The woman was fairly normal, but he child. Dear God. I want to go home. His eyes were huge and black, and his mouth was stretched open in a horrible shriek, and lined with huge fangs. But like everything else, he didn’t move an inch.

I found Tails. Right where I left him at the western edge of the city.. He’s looking out in the direction I headed into the forests. I wish I could hug him, but he’d only burn for it.

And I can hear them now. Those monsters. They’re here somewhere. I’m hiding in an old building that was at least half way normal.

I’ve been thinking. What if I’m not where I thought I was? What if I’m not in another time zone or whatever? What if I’m between my world and some other dimension or something? And that means I’m trespassing on these things home. That sudden flux back at the pyramid may be me moving closer to them. And nothing can explain those lights.

The lights, I almost forgot about them. I came to this city to keep myself from going insane, but it’s just getting worse.

I can see the golden light on the horizon. I’m going for it. Wish me luck.

The forests around here are normal, well as normal as could be. They aren’t twisted or anything. I’ll hang here a while, lay down under this tree for a moment.
Ok that was a bad idea. Never lied down on a tree for that amount of time. It started to warm me up a lot. I felt as if it would set ME on fire. I’ll avoid that.

The light is getting brighter, and not just because I’m getting closer to it. It’s almost like it’s calling me to it. It’s a sweet call one moment, and a daring demand the next. But I have to press on. Those lights are the only thing not just standing there. Plus I’m out of food.

And besides that, those monsters are still around.
