Ch. 3
Enter Billy Martin
Benji blinked as Billy stood in the doorway, Billy smiled, Benji knew the smile but the face was different, plus he got hell round skinner. Billy had a piercing in the middle of his lip, the right side of his nose, the left eyebrow, and both ears. He didn’t have his hippy hairstyle again and he was just different. Benji felt a smile grow on his face, “Billy! What’s up man!” He found himself saying
Billy smiled in relief, he wasn’t quiet sure how Benji would act, “Hey Benji.” He said and walked in. He had a card, Billy never could spend much money with his mother around. But Billy knew Benji wouldn’t care. Billy bent by Benji’s bed. He felt the tears stinging his eyes, he held it but soon the tears let loose. Billy fell to tears.
Benji blinked as Billy cried, soon he hugged Billy speaking “It will be fine man, don’t cry man.” He smiled as he said man twice, for some reason catching it funny.
Billy wrapped his arms around Benji, “You had me worried Benji, I have every reason in the world to cry!” He said looking down
Benji blinked again then smiled, “It is fine how dude.” He looked at Joel “Aw man!” He tried his best to act serious but failing, “I missed my sixteenth birthday! Man!” He crossed his arms when Billy stood from Benji, it wasn’t ten seconds later till he bust out laughing. Billy and Joel joined in after looking at him weirdly. Benji grabbed Joel and Billy and hugged them, “Geez guys, I’m sorry.” He said feeling the tears
Billy smiled, “No big.” He said punching Benji in the stomach lightly.
Joel laughed and crossed his arms, “You should be sorry.” He put his fist on Benji’s face pretending to punch him.
Benji shook his head smiling
“Hey?” Hilary stood at the door. She walked forward and held her arms out to Benji making a cute face, “Don’t I get a hug to?” She said
“I’ll give you more than a hug!” Benji laughed and hugged her
She smiled, “I’m sure Benji!” She said hugging him
Benji nodded, “I will!” He said then began to laugh
Joel smiled at his brother, he missed him so bad it felt as a part of him was torn away. Anger flew over him, he thought about his father. How could he do
that! To his own flesh in blood! Joel knew he was pathetic but this! It was horrible. Joel looked to the ground thinking, “All them years I went to the store
with mom, did father hurt Benji and five years ago decide to kill him?” Tears came to his eyes while he thought, but he continued to think, “Benji never told
me, but for years I thought something was wrong but also Benji had so many bruises, I never thought that was the cause, plus I thought cause he got into
so many fights at school that was the cause. I was stupid, I could have saved my brother!” Tears rolled down his cheeks, tickling him as they went under his
chin.
Benji saw his tears and blinked, with out a thought, with out a word, Benji held his hands out, arms outstretched, he held them out to Joel.
Joel looked at Benji and the whole room was quiet. Joel walked forward and fell into his brother’s arms, he started to sob uncontrollably.
Benji tried to fight back his tears but fell into what his brother felt and started sobbing along with him.
Billy and Hilary watched them side-by-side. Hilary put her fist to her mouth trying not to cry
Billy looked at her and put his arm around Hilary and hugged her hoping to comfort her. He looked away and pulled Hilary up to him letting her cry on
his shoulder. Billy continued to look away. He didn’t know why they were all crying. Sadly enough he didn’t fell like crying at all. He really doesn’t know
why he was there. He thought, “I know why. Cause he is my friend, I need to stand by him.” Billy tightened his grip on Hilary, “Though it’s weird how I cried earlier and now at a time like this I don’t!” He started to get mad at himself
Hilary looked at Billy as he tightened his grip. “Billy?” She blinked slowly.
Billy looked at her and let go, “Sorry. I think you better get back to work.” He said and walked up to the windowsill and put the card down then started walking
Benji looked at him, “Billy? Where are you going?”
Billy turned and he wanted to be calm but it came out wrong, “Duh! I’m not staying here forever! We all have a life you know! I’m going home!” He said then froze. Billy looked down after a few minutes of silence. With nothing to say he turned and walked out the door pushing past Hilary.
Hilary went against the wall even though Billy didn’t push nearly hard enough to make her hit the wall.
Benji watched the door shut in surprise
Joel stood by Benji quietly. He looked at Benji slowly not wanting to know his reaction.
