Katherine’s POV
I slammed the front door and locked it and stomped up the stairs and into my room, I flicked on the lights and walked over to my dresser and pulled it open and grabbed a pair of pajamas and quickly changed into them.
I then kicked the clothes into my dirty clothes hamper and hopped into my bed. I couldn’t wait for this day to finally end, too much had happened in one day that I would gladly take death, but I preferred sleep.
I looked up at the ceiling above me and watched the dust mites dance around the lights and silently make there way down towards me, I watched them until they were about a foot in front of my face then blew them up again but someone snatched them out of the air before they could move more then an inch.
“Having fun?” Mackena asked.
“Get out of my house.” I said flatly.
“The chance of me leaving without you is very slim.” She said.
“Can I sleep on it?” I asked and turned to look at her.
“Sure, but I’m not leaving.” She said and inched away from me hiding her appearance.
“I can’t sleep with someone watching me.” I said.
“You’ll fall asleep eventually.” She said.
“So you’re going to stay here, for three days, without hunting?” I asked sitting up.
“Why three days?” Mackena asked.
“Because full moon is in three days, and a human can go without sleep for three days.” I said.
“Werewolves take medicine so they don’t change.” She said.
“Have fun dealing with instinct then.” I said and got out of my bed and walked over to my dirty laundry hamper.
“What do you mean?” She asked.
“Here, catch.” I said and threw her the shirt I wore today.
“What’s this?” She asked.
“Well don’t be stupid, take a whiff.” I said and she held the shirt two inches away from her nose and took a deep breath in.
“Ah,” She said and took in another breath.
“Smell good?” I asked.
“Yes,” She replied and closed her eyes and smiled.
“Well don’t sit there, you can get real right next door.” I said.
“You want me to kill?” She asked.
“Nope, I want you to understand how tempting it will be.” I said and she threw the shirt back at me.
“It’s not going to be tempting with your scent flying around here.” She said.
“What’s that?” I asked.
“You smell like shit, I’m sure the vamps told you that.” She said snorting.
“Yes they told me, I don’t get why though.” I said putting my shirt back in the hamper.
“Any kind of half-breed smells completely revolting, including mixed dogs and animals.” She said.
“Oh even half werewolves?” I asked.
“Yes, but there aren’t many of those.” She said standing up and moving towards my dresser.
“Oh? And why not?” I asked and walked back to my bed.
“Because only way you can get a half werewolf half human is when a werewolf breeds with a human, and that’s against code.” She said picking up one of the necklaces on my dresser.
“Against code?” I asked now deeply absorbed in our conversation.
“Yes, werewolves have rules just like vampires and humans. We are not aloud to breed with anything other then our own kind.” She said tossing the necklace from one hand to the other.
“Can vampires breed with werewolves?” I asked.
“Yes, the result is terrifying, but it’s possible.” She said and laid my necklace back down on my dresser.
“What is it like?” I asked.
“Dreadful, the monster eats its way out of its mother, and then is thirsty and hungry for everything; it will kill anything in its path because its demands are never met. It is never full or satisfied because everything is so tempting and it can’t learn how to control itself because it never grows. So we have to kill it, before it can do any real damage.” She said a suppressed a shudder.
“Has any real damage ever been done?” I asked.
“Yes, the first time a vampire and werewolf ever bred, everyone was excited to see the result. They figured out the mother had been carrying triplets and they didn’t realize the outcome was going to be bad until she was dead and the little monsters had killed everyone in the room. They moved on because they weren’t full and killed a whole county of innocent humans until Viktor finally stepped in and killed them. But he saved one, Goliath, he is still alive, he is being tested in a secure lab in Germany. Of course no humans no of the beast but everyone immortal and paranormal being knows.” She said.
“Where are they holding Goliath?” I asked.
“Berlin Germany, under the city to be more exact, two miles under the city. Rather hot down there.” She said.
“You’ve been there?” I asked.
“Yes, I volunteered to see whether Goliath could refrain from killing werewolves, and like we all thought he couldn’t.” She said.
“So why aren’t you dead?” I asked.
“Because I am stronger then the beast, I know when something wants to kill me I can react quicker then you might think.” She said and held my necklace close to her face then dropped it, I watched it partly as it fell then Mackena snatched it out of the air and placed it back on my dresser.
“But this thing sounds strong; it killed a whole county including vampires and werewolves I suppose.” I said.
“It did, but they weren’t as strong and they were unprepared, they all thought that the babies were going to be cute little innocent children who would never kill anything.” She said.
“They were wrong.” I said quietly.
“Obviously,” She said.
“So why are you telling me this?” I asked.
“Yes, why are you telling her all this. We would like to know.” A voice said and I looked up to see Josh and George standing on the upper part of my room overlooking me and Mackena.
“I thought I smelled something.” Mackena said and moved over so she could see them too.
“Yeah we could smell you too.” Josh spat.
“Don’t I smell delicious?” Mackena laughed.
“No you don’t.” George said coldly.
“What do you want?” Josh asked.
“Well her, obviously.” She said and came over to sit next to me.
“Don’t touch her.” Josh shouted.
“Calm down, I mean no harm.” Mackena said softly.
“We are taking care of her no one is going to get near her.” George said.
“Where will you be taking her?” Mackena asked thoughtfully.
“Wherever she will be safe.” George said.
“Ha, well when we take her you can at least know she will be safe.” Mackena said.
“You’re not taking her anywhere.” Josh spat.
“You don’t have a choice, and neither does she.” Mackena said.
“Helena will know you where here.” Josh said.
“Yes, Helena does know I am here, the council sent me to take Katherine, and it’s just a matter of time before Helena finds out.” Mackena said.
“The council sent you.” George repeated.
“Yes, no one wants Viktor back, they found out what he was planning when he reawakened, and it’s not good for anyone.” She said and looked down.
“What’s he planning?” I whispered.
“That’s none of her concern.” George said quickly before Mackena could reply.
“I think it is, it’s my blood they need, and I want to know.” I protested.
“Calm down, I need to tell her George, I need to tell her the truth because she might hear some twisted story from someone else and do something stupid.” Mackena said.
“Thank you.” I said and Mackena glared at me.
“Viktor tends to make an army and not just a vampire army an army that consists of a matter of dark creatures to finish off the werewolves. He wants to end our race then make the vampire race completely ‘pure’.”
“This means no half-breeds.” Josh said interrupting Mackena.
“Yes, but it also means house blooded either.” Mackena said.
“House-blooded?” I asked.
“Vampires that only become full vampires in there home or on the turning night.” George said.
“Yes.” Mackena said.
“So probably no clean vampires or translucents either am I correct?” George asked.
“He plans on wiping them out too.” Mackena said.
“Care to explain?” I asked.
“Clean vampires are vampires who don’t drink human blood, and translucents are vampires who don’t consider themselves part of this kingdom, they don’t follow our kings the mainly hide away, usually in the Amazon.” Josh said.
“Oh, so why would he kill them?” I asked.
“Because they don’t necessarily follow what king Viktor believes.” George said. “What else is he taking out?”
“Ghouls, goblins, witches, wizards, fairies, half-breeds, clean vampires, translucents, house-blooded, and werewolves.” Mackena said reading a mental list.
“Why ghouls and goblins? I a sure they would love to help him.” Josh said.
“So annoying.” Mackena said.
“You kill the annoying?” Josh asked shrilly.
“No, working with them is annoying; I don’t know why he wants to kill them.” Mackena said in defense.
“So who is he planning on recruiting?” George asked.
“Demons, ghosts, Skelegonds, giants, ‘pure’ vampires, dark mystical exocoats, and all those dark creatures.” Mackena said.
“Dare I ask?” I said.
“I wouldn’t.” George and Joey said together.
“I think I will discuss the rest of this with the head of your coven, we shall let her sleep.” Mackena said bouncing off my bed and she leaped up to where George and Joey were standing. “Shall we?” She said and they all walked up my spiral staircase and out onto my balcony.
“Finally,” I said and laid down in my bed and fell asleep almost instantly.
I slammed the front door and locked it and stomped up the stairs and into my room, I flicked on the lights and walked over to my dresser and pulled it open and grabbed a pair of pajamas and quickly changed into them.
