  In re; Removal of Snape other than by death, I feel sure you would find this character would just have to be dealt with yet again, after more evil work, if on his own this time.
  
  The parallel would be Treebeard letting Saruman go, only to have "Sharky" show up having despoiled the Shire, and the someone with more justice than mercy, unlike Frodo, putting an arrow through his black, prune shaped heart!

  Okay, I can see how you said that Harry's new mentors will stay on the periphery of this story if Harry's going to end up back at Hogwarts. I find myself rather looking forward to seeing how just he and his friends might fare in the Hogwarts setting - taking on Dumbledore and Snape and so forth on their own terms. Looking forward to Harry exercising these 'head of house' priviliges! I'd like to know the full details of the two agreements and those conditions to which Dumbledore felt he could not agree.
  
  I like Harry's promise to save Hermione - of course - although (at this stage, anyway!) he's still best mates with Ron too, right? Still, he does mention how Hermione is an even bigger target because she's muggle-born, so I guess that's okay. Ron's firmly embedded in wizarding society and is pretty safe there.
  
  If this is happening at the end of Harry's 4th year then he doesn't even know Luna yet, right? :-(
  
  Another chapter of exposing ignorant!incompetent!Dumbledore I see. Heh.

  Wonderful part there, and loved the movie talk with Hermione, as well as some of the suggestions given to Dumbledore, and was great to see Remus stand up for Harry for once, instead of wimping out as usual, and here's to Dumbledore trying to control Snape for real, rather than let him wander like usual, making a butthead of himslef as usual.

  Somehow I don't envison this ending well. Severus will not be silent, Dumbledore will overstep his bounderies and Harry will leave.
  
  Of course I don't know what the different agreements said and you were very circumspect in not revealing what they agreed to or didn't sign on. I sure wish you would let us know what we can expect this year.

  Glad to see you writing again. This has to be the first story I've read with Harry being the main character yet not really making an appearance for the first two chapters, with possibly more than that as well. Regardless of that, I think this has been a brilliant start and I look forward to reading the rest of this story. Really liked the Die Hard villain reference to Snape.

  Brad -- no, Harry hasn't met Luna. Yet.
  
  Head of House -- Harry is legally an adult in most ways, and now legally counts as a Pureblood (but of course not socially) and Head of an Ancient Family. Some of what that means will be shown in the next chapter. Those are traditional rights often extended to underage heads of families when their guardians agree
  
  The other set of demands would have given Harry special treatment at Hogwarts, which Dumbles refused -- but which Harry will largely take anyway
  
  MiFo -- no Toad as a teacher. . . .
