Rayne makes it over to the compound after Pete's urgent phone call. What was so urgent after all? And Salcido has a few words for the group of hunters he was planted in.

Rayne frowned as she parked her car and got out, stepping foot on one of the many patches of dead grass that littered the area around the compound that Pete and his friends had moved to. Her eyes found the guards easily, which worried her since they were supposed to be in hiding in case of an attack, and she made her way to the door. She banged on the door and waited in silence, not liking the silence that surrounded her, or the thick tension in the air. When the door opened and Disashi motioned quickly for her to come inside, she recognized the urgent look in his eyes and rushed in. The minute she saw him, she rushed to Pete, hugging him tightly.
“I’m so glad you’re okay!” Rayne exclaimed as he returned the hug. “Why did you need me to come here so bad?” She questioned, pulling back to look at his face.
“To clear up an awful rumor, my Rainy Day,” purred a voice that made Rayne practically leap from Pete’s arms and into Gabe’s, exclaiming his name. Gabe chuckled as he held her close and kissed the top of her head. “It’s times like this that I wish I had been the one to fully turn you, so the rumor wouldn’t have affected you.”
“You could have called,” she sniffled as she rested her head against his shoulder.
“I know, lovey, I know,” he whispered, rubbing her back softly. “I’m sorry.”
“Gabe…” Adam’s voice made both Rayne and Gabe look at him. “Tell her.”
“What’s going on?” Rayne questioned, looking back to Gabe.
“Rayne, not all of the rumor is a rumor,” Gabe explained. “My home has been destroyed, my coven has been scattered, but we are keeping in touch. I need to know if you know of any safe spots we can all move to, temporarily. Even Pete’s home has been compromised.”
Rayne frowned as she took in what he said, before she took her lower lip between her teeth and sat on the couch Pete led her over to, the whole time racking her brain. “How many are we talking about moving?”
Gabe looked at Pete, not really knowing the answer. “Sisky and I can find a place for out coven after all of this is over, but for now, until this blows over, I guess twelve.” He looked at Rayne, who sighed and shook her head. “Nothing?”
“There is an option, but I’m not sure if you would be willing…” She answered as she looked around. “Where is everyone?”
“They’re getting together anything we might need to bring with us on the move,” Pete answered. “So, what is this option you’re thinking of Rayne? We’re pretty desperate for options right now.”
“It’s an old factory with a very large, underground parking garage,” she answered. “The building itself would be a bad place, but the parking garage has only one way in, and a very well-hidden way out.”
“Why would the building be bad?” Adam asked as he sat next to her.
“All the windows are busted out, the floors are crumbling,” she sighed. “The whole thing is condemned, due to be demolished soon. As I said, though, the parking garage of it would be best, especially since there is only one way to get in.” She looked at Pete. “Wait, how did you home get compromised?”
“That is a long story, but the shortest way to explain it for now is, a spy got planted and he wasn’t caught until it was too late,” Pete explained, frowning as he remembered the danger his sister was now involved in, so soon after he finally found her.
Rayne frowned and shook her head again. “You guys just can’t get a break in your lives, can you?”
“It’s looking like we can’t,” Pete replied before letting out a sigh.

Salcido looked up when Hilary grabbed hold of his hair and jerked his head up so that he would have to look at her. “What do you want?” He growled, knowing that his cover was well-blown, so there was no need to feign nice anymore.
“Why did you betray us?” She demanded as Nate came to her side to make sure she didn’t get too close to the vampire. Even though his body was secured, if she got too close and within range, his mouth could easily get her. “You were supposed to be our friend!”
“I trusted you,” Micah murmured, still reeling from the betrayal of someone he thought he had worked closely with. “How could you do this?”
“Because he’s a sorry excuse for something that used to be human,” Claire spat out before she walked over and slapped the vampire’s face, yelping as her hand stung since he had made his body rigid. She held her hand to her chest, glaring daggers at the smirking vampire. “I should have staked you when you first came wondering around.”
“And yet you didn’t,” Salcido mused, turning the corner of his mouth up a bit more to form a half smile. “And now here I am, bringing down your little family, and a family of importance to my Master’s friend. Even if I die now, my task has been complete so it won’t matter. You all are going to die tonight. Every last one of you.”
“Don’t tempt me with the possibility of killing you,” Nate growled as his arms moved protectively around Hilary, who had moved closer to him at Salcido’s words.
They looked at the door when it opened and Rayne walked in with Gabe and Pete. “We don’t need him anymore, he can die anytime we want him to,” Rayne said as she pulled the door to the cell shut. She walked over to him and pulled his head back by the hair, causing him to growl in pain since he had tried to keep him head from moving, causing some of his hair to pull painfully. “Who wants the honors?” She purred by his ear, though her eyes moved over the other people in the room.
[Author's Note: Oooo, Rayne's gotten a little blood thirsty. Then again, if you remember when she was telling Pete about Deacon, in Almost Sunrise she did get blood-thirsty when she was telling Pete about what happened to Deacon and Tom to lead Deacon to a life with William. She's protective of her friends =)]
