Chapter three: 'Damsel in Distress'
I don't own Class of the Titans

Everyone was now glancing at one another, all pondering at Jay's casual, yet concerned question.

"Well...where is she?" Jay urged. His facial expression was now gradually becoming anxious.

"I'll go check her room, she's usually the first one up." suggested Atlanta. She was about to enable her unique speed, when she was immediately halted.

"Don't bother." Said Archie audibly

"Why not?" replied Jay hopefully.

"Well, because early this morning I met up with her when she..." Archie flushed a deep mauve as he remembered Theresa in a towel. He quickly glanced around the room, hoping that nobody noticed his sudden explosion of vibrant pink swirls clouding his face. Archie eye's discretely wandered towards Atlanta's direction, curious at what her reaction would be. However, to his utter disappointment, Atlanta made no reaction once so ever.

Instead he received many harsh, jealous glares, from the curious Jay. However, Jay mentally decided that he'd talk about this 'flushing incident' with him later, so a conflict wouldn't arise. Still glaring, making sure he was in a more dominating posture, Jay forced Archie to continue.

"Hmmm...well anyways, I briefly saw her heading to the direction of the school" Archie stated matter-o-factly.

"How early exactly are we talking about?" asked Odie, while fidgeting with his laptop.

"About four -thirty am"

"Four thirty in the morning! That girl has some serious issues!" exclaimed Neil

Thanks to the team's unobservant habits, they didn't percept that Neil had re- entered the kitchen. In fact, he had returned at the precise moment that Archie had blushed at the mention of Theresa, and there run in. Neil always was lucky when it came to Archie's humiliating moments, much to Archie's misfortune.

"That's not like Theresa, something must be on her mind" stated Herry.

"Oh please, it's exactly like Theresa," Archie continued "I'll bet she makes a fuss over her own shadow." He rolled his eyes while he quickly gathered his bag, making it clear he didn't want to hear any objections to his statement.
Everyone took the hint, and reluctantly followed, still worried about Theresa. They herded into Herry's custom made truck, and headed for Olympus High.

Theresa's vision became stronger when she blinked rapidly; as the swirls of contrasted colours and blurs of unique shapes, eventually molded into recognizable forms. Theresa slightly held up her pain stricken head, while straining her bruised neck. She immediately let her head drop, the pain quickly expanding through her upper body.

"Uh...what happened?" she mumbled to herself

"Oh, just the usual"
Theresa felt a pump of adrenaline as she forgot her pain and stood up.

"Cronus"

The gang, excluding one clairvoyant individual, was walking through the Gods' secret portal that would reveal a much larger part of the school.

"Come on guys, we have combat practice today with Ares." Jay notified the others with his leader voice.

"Jeeessssh Jay, we know already" replied Atlanta and Archie at the same moment.

Before Atlanta could call 'jinx' on the un-suspecting Archie, Persephone intercepted them.

"Finally! Where is Theresa? I wanted to start some meditating earlier today!" exclaimed Persephone.

Jay could feel the colour draining from his face, and replaced with a mask revealing nothing but worry.

"We thought she was with you" replied Jay in a deep tone.
He was glaring at Archie at that moment, not caring if the others noticed this bold action.

Archie, on the other hand could feel himself being watched by a bunch of frustrated eyes. 'Oh great, now they'll never trust me. Thanks a lot Drama Queen,' he thought distastefully to himself.

"I'll call her on my pmr," suggested Odie logically.
However, when he tried to call, they were overpowered with a thick bushy static. Everyone heard the echo of a rather monstrous proof that Theresa was in danger.
"I wonder what happened..." Herry trailed off as he thought of the horrible possibilities.

Jay couldn't help but glare at Archie with devastating eyes. He knew it was partially his fault of not keeping to his responsibilities as leader. However, he couldn't help but share a small, yet significant portion of the blame with Archie. He knew Archie and Theresa weren't the best of friends, but still, he could only wonder. Jay noticed that Archie continually was watching the tiled floor, as if they would do him a favor and consume him. Archie was not, however, as lucky as Neil and the white glossy tiles remained immobile. They were staring at him with bemused expressions, without the slightest tinge of sympathy. Jay's shoulders drooped as he realized that blaming Archie when he already felt guilty wasn't going to find Theresa.

Jay coughed audibly and stated "Well we can't just stand here; we should split up in groups and search for her."

"What do you want you ugly piece of shi-"

"Flattery will get you nowhere Theresa" Cronus said with a large smirk plastered on his pale, scarred face.

"Well then, let's try something like this!" She leaped toward his direction while revealing her num-chucks. Before Cronus could react, she was attacking him with full force. For some odd reason, she could feel the same energy flow in her veins that her body was demanding. She quickly took hold of the rare energy, and managed to knock Cronus in the stomach with her wildly swing num-chucks. He was taken aback by how strong she really was, and stumbled a bit. He immediately regained his posture however, and gave her another all knowing smirk.

Wanting to eliminate that smirk with all force necessary, she went and tried to kick his face as hard as she could. However, she was cut short when Cronus grabbed the on-coming foot and pushed her aggressively to the cold, hard earth.

"Ah, poor predictable Theresa, playing the role of a damsel in distress I see." His words caused more damage to her than any blade would ever do.

"Now, now, don't be so dramatic, even though Jay isn't here to rescue you."
'Great now he's calling me a drama queen,' thought Theresa harshly.

"Thanks for the embellishment" she scoffed sarcastically, "but I can handle myself."

She became as strong as she willed to be, harnessing her energy to fight. She punched Cronus in the nose; he may have been immortal, but he knew what pain felt like. Her knuckles burned with yearning to cause him more uncomfortable pain.

Cronus was taken aback by this reaction, and cursed under his breath as his nose throbbed.

"Well, as much fun it is fighting you Theresa," he spat sarcastically, "I figured out what I needed to know about you, and don't worry, when the time comes, you'll know what I'm talking about."

She didn't flinch from her fighting stance, processing his menacing words in her head. Her eyes showed a morsel of fear, intertwined in her determined eyes. She wasn't letting him leave with the last word.

Cronus turned and summoned his portal, "I know what's going on in your inferior head Theresa. I know what you crave, and what you've seen. Let's just say this isn't over." He smiled and slowly turned round.

Theresa, now replenished with hatred, ran with full force at his direction. She leaped in the air, with a kicking position. "Let me help you with that!" she screamed. Cronus had limited time to react, as he felt a jolt of pain in his back, while falling rapidly through his portal. Meanwhile, Theresa had planned the timing of kicking him perfectly, and shifted her weight to the left of the portal. The last thing she wanted was to go through the portal as well. She hit the ground hard, but ignored the throbbing pain.

She grinned to herself as she started running towards the school, "Now who's the damsel in distress?"
*************

"Okay, Archie, you and I will cover the Eastern part of the city, Atlanta; you'll go with Herry to the Northern part of the city, and Neil-" he was cut short as he stared in disbelief. Theresa came through the doors of the school, as they were about to leave. Jay was so thankful that he said Neil's name, as lucky as it was.

"Theresa!"
