The Acts Of Betrayal

I'm glad you finally uploaded a real update after all the false alerts that went out. Not that it's your fault, and you probably didn't even know about them.
I loved what happened to Snape. Hopefully these rapiests and any others will get some actual consequences instead of being protected by Snape and Dumbledore. I'm surprised Dumbledore wasn't arrested as an accessory, but that's the muggle law, not Wizarding.Author's response
- the false alerts evidently happened when I make corrections to fix grammatical errors. Now that I know that happens, I will refrain from fixing things until I make an update.
- Because of who he is, Amelia has to move slowly and carefully against Dumbles... He's going down, just not quickly. The Acts Of Betrayal

Brutal much?
Great to see it, couldn't happen to a better character.
I'd like to see Dumb-as-a-door get it too!

- Justin wasn't that bad....
- messin' wit 'cha. Filius was pissed that Snape would abuse 'his' children. Snape forgot rule one, never provoke anyone who can kick your ass...The Acts Of Betrayal

Very good update, particularly Flitwick's moment. Hopefully the next chapter will have a bit more of Harry in it.Author's response
- it's not all about Harry you know...
- Ok, maybe it is, but he was resting up from what Hermione did to him. he's not a machine you know. The Acts Of Betrayal

Another fine chapter. Snape bashing almost always works for me, literally of figuratively. Its nice to see Flitwick getting some play. Thanks for writing. W.Author's response
- Filius is a woefully underused character in canon...The Acts Of Betrayal

(applause) Seeing Justin and Flitwick deal out a little mayhem was great! Looks like Snape should have put in a little practice running after all. It still wouldn't have done him any good, but he might have gotten an inch or two closer to the front door. Then again, maybe not. It was also cool how Flitwick gave Snape a lesson in proper dueling behavior as he whomped him. Truly the mark of a good teacher. And Amelia rocks big time! Now there's a lady who knows how to get the best out of her department. I suppose in the next chapter Dumbles will continue to squeal about his school and his dignity until he remembers that protecting proven rapists isn't going to go over well with the public.....especially the ones who have daughters. Many thanks for the chapter! The Acts Of Betrayal

Congratulations on how you wrote Justin and Flitwick. Two minor characters in canon have been brought to life in wonderful colour. I have this wonderful mental image of Luna looking at Justin with those wide, awe-filled eyes before giving him a little gentle kiss on his damaged knuckles whilst all the other 'Puffs and 'Claws looking at Justin with a certain degree of sudden respect and fear (the sheeple only understand overtly displayed strength).
I loved the ending of this chapter. Was I the only one that heard the fanfare from 'Duel of the Fates' when Flitwick stepped out of the shadows? ;-) Yes, the bone-breaking hex was a cheap shot, but the shattered bone might damage Snape enough to render him impotent, which is poetic justice of a sort.
If Dumbledore is smart, he will keep his head down. If the arrests were on 'suspicion' only, he might be able to assist those who weren't stupid enough to try to run. However, if the ladies have given Aemelia enough evidence to charge, he would be a fool to try to protect the rapists, especially Snape (who, thanks to his Dark Mark, is probably going on a trip through the Veil rather than a life stay in Azkaban). Dumbledore would only destroy his own reputation trying to defend Snape. He will most likely murmur something about 'disappointments' and 'Just like Tom' and walk off, shaking his head sadly. Oh... and he'd better kill Snape. The man is quite capable of telling the Wizegmont that Dumbledore knew about the rapes in a futile attempt to save his own skin.
Well, one way or another, Dumbledore is next. Harry promised Snape that he would destroy both his masters. Tommy-boy is a bit difficult to find right now, so Dumbledore is the obvious next target. I wonder how McGonnagall is viewing these events.
A very interesting read all round. This is one of your best works to date.

- It has long been my position that the teachers, other than Minerva and Snape, have never truely been fleshed out in canon (and now never will be). Justin was the first character that came to mind to link Luna to. She didn't need a pureblood, already being one. She needed someone to be amazed by her, which means a muggle born. This Luna is fun to write, since I can have her know what is going to happen and still react in surprise and delight when it does.
- When I wrote it, I was listening to "Hall of the Mountain King" but yours would work too.
- Dumbles isn't smart, he's self serving. He isn't going to expend an iota of energy toward saving the rapist unless he thinks it will benefit him...The Acts Of Betrayal

Excellent! Bravo, Justin and Filius! I'm glad Justin got to save Luna, and not Harry. Others need their moments as well.

-I've been trying to give the minor character their day in the sun, it's just Harry and crew are such attention hogs...The Acts Of Betrayal

very very nice chapter - Justin seemed dead on to falling in love, and Filius, an under used character if there ever was one, was wonderful.
thanks so much for continuing the storyAuthor's response
- Justin has fallen and is wondering what the hell just happened. I'm thinking of following that couple for a while... It might be interesting to see how Justin's upper class family deals with Luna...The Acts Of Betrayal

Brilliant, beautiful and a great take on the little man on the bookpile. The lovely ritualistic view of duelling was well thought out and much appreciated.
Go you!

- I've known boxers and people heavily into the martial arts. before bouts they all had their little rituals to get their heads ready for the competition. It seemed to me that a dueler would have something like that, so why not use runes for luck and power?
