Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

Best chapter ever, of this story at least, and I am begging for more. That was the greatest gift that anyone could give that lost someone important to them. but I wanted to know how fast will it spread that harry kicked the teachers arse, will the slytherin "girls" be attracted to harry beacause of his power, will the puffs make him their hero and leader. and is ronnie being a jealous prat, when orestes got together with harri?Author's response
- Gads, I hadn't considered the rumor network... I'll have to think about that.
- The Slytherins are just in it for the rape...Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

You continue to deliver a fresh commentary and point of view.
The Room of Requirement's Holodeck simile works well on so many levels - remember Barclay's Holadiction? Nice that Luna's simulated father had the presence of mind to warn her against that.
When Luna finally has her wicked way with Harry will there be some physical manifestation, some magical indication that he's lost his "virtue?"
I'm more than a little surprised that Blanche would hire such an obvious bigot, with a record of pureblood indulgences, as a teacher.
It was nice seeing her get her comeuppance.
Write on, write on!
N!Author's response
- Mostly I wanted to 'give' Luna something without having her end up hogging the room... Of course now that she knows about the room she might go on virtual Snorkack hunts...
- I wouldn't thinks so... Though Luna might walk funny...
- Strews was ministry appointed... I'm saving Umbastard for something special...
- I had to show Moody that he could do the accelerated magic, this was a good excuse.Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

Harry and Harri disappearing into the RoR for hours at a time? Sounds dirty to me =P.
I would say that the duel with the auror was far to easy for Harry as stories are more interesting if the characters don't easily overcome all obstacles. Apart from that it was quite enjoyable and I'll really loving this new universe.Author's response
- As long as they're not sitting in a tree...
- Would the duel had been too easy if Riddle was in Harry's place? Of course not, if anything Riddle would have crushed her far more easily. Harry is supposed to be Riddle's equal, and is being trained by a magical clone of Riddle to be just that.Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

A teacher puts a student in the hospital with an attack from the back, and Dumbles says "Don't do it again"? This one is as bad or worse than the original. I suppose killing someone would get the teacher suspended without pay (pending a hearing, of course).Author's response
- You're right, the "Don't do it again" was out of character.
- given the damage routinely done to the students in classes like Potions... the DADA instructor was pretty unimaginative I admit.Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

Lovely, this way to make the top dog an underdog. Luna is a great character, especially her "male" patterns. You are very thorough in the swapping, but i actually do believe you're exaggerating the inequality a bit. Just a little, though. Harri/y's training session is something to look forward to.
VanirAuthor's response
- I see it as more 'dominate' than 'male' but, yeah.
- Maybe a bit, but it advances the story...
- I fully expect Orestes to be completely freaked out.Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

Hmm, the training is indeed intense and I suspect that Orestes is going to be resistant when Harri insists on it; that'll likely lead to him taking part, too, and learning lots that's not in books but which will help him survive to enjoy life with Harri.
The birthday present for Luna was inspired and her reaction was a bit on the amusing side. I have to wonder how long it'll take before she insists on taking Harry up on his offer.
Meanwhile, I think Senior Auror Strews just got quite a lesson in humility. After she recovers, I do have to wonder if she's going to let Tommi know what this boy can do; it seems that no one has considered the cultural conditioning he's come from; it's bound to make him stand out and I suspect he's not going to be able to avoid becoming something of a leader. Blanche may find herself with real problems as Harry and Hari & Orestes team up together in several ways. I'm definitely looking foward to the next installment.Author's response
- Orestes will try, but not be capable of the accelerated magic that will be key to the Potter/Riddle confrontation. He and Ronnie (and Nelly, and Arthur and Luna) will be along to keep the rank and file Death Eaters off the Potter's backs.
- Next chapter
- Strews was in love with Riddle in school, and is a pure blood bigot, but she is NOT a Death Eater.
- Riddle's first indication of failure will be when the Senior Death Eaters sent into the field start coming back (in the rare occasions they do come back) with horror stories about what the Potter Girl is capable of... None of them will believe that it was the Potter Boy who handed them their heads.
- And no, Dumblette will not be thrilled about the lack of control she has over the Potters.Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

An interesting take on the "twin" fandom syndrome. I am enjoying this tremendously and look forward to where you will take it.Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

Interesting look at a different world. Wonder what pursuing Luna and Pursuing Harry will do. Harry should start going by another name, though.
Minor nit - the first first time we hear about healer Pomfrey, he is refered to as she.Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

This story is too good and too interesting for you to give it up. I really hope you're going to write more.Author's response
- The next chapter is coming. I may be slow, but I've never dropped a story yet...
