I think you have to write Dumbledore either as a MOB or a MEB (Evil). I think MOB is about right, always from the 'best' of motives, of course.
If Harry had been able to pull this trick (as he does in Sorcerer's Apprentice, although he isn't on scene at Hogwarts), Snape would have become more obsessed with teaching 'the Boy' a lesson. Here, he MIGHT be able to ignore Neville
We'll see what you have planned

I tried to write Albus as a MOB, but it didn't fit this story, so I let the character be.
And, I have to admit, you've totally lost me with your second paragraph.
Thanks

How fascinating, Dumbledore seems to be a bit of a manipulative a**hole here. Trying to order Neville to drop a valid complaint rather than deal with the actual problem. I wonder what game Albus is playing? Great chapter, thank you.Author's response
Thanks for your feedback; but, I don't consider him that much of a manipulative person in that scene, he was just trying to be a little intimidating to avoid work for his teaching staff, and himself. His major concern, at the time, was the amount of work that would be involved because of all the frivolous review requests, Neville's assurance about the Gryff's made him feel a bit better, although his concern was justified, it turns out, with regard to the Slytherins.
I'm not certain if I'm explaining myself well, but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

that has to be one of the finest year 1 potions class chapters that I have ever seen in several thousand HP stories - loved it - Having Neville stand up to snivellus from the get go is fabulous - can't wait to see where you take us.
this should put that manipulative bastard dumbledork on notice as well that he cannot favor his greasy boytoy any more.Author's response
Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed the Potions class. Neville decided he wasn't going to put up with Snape's BS and took over that part of the chapter.
And, as I've mentioned in other responses, Albus isn't going to be a MOB in this story. There are too many stories out there, and some of them are even well done GRIN but I don't think I have anything new to say about the character, so I'm trying to go a different route with him.
Thanks for your feedback. I was planning to get some more written, but, between massive computer problems over the weekend, and doing my taxes today, I really haven't had the time.

so u got the point review from seelvor's quantum leap? nice going though....Author's response
Yeah; I knew I had read about the Point Review; but couldn't remember where. Let's face it, when you read as many fan-fics as most of us do, it can be difficult to keep track where we find certain things.
I'm glad you like what I did with it, btw.

It’s interesting that the school has a form of punishment review. Not only is the first time I’ve seen it, but it makes sense as well, especially with such biased instructors.
The confrontation between Neville and Snape was interesting, but I don’t think Snape is one to let this die. He's the type to hold a grudge and he'll look for any excuse to make Neville's (and by extent, his friends) life miserable.
Also, the way Dumbledore ordered Neville to stop requesting reviews tells me that he, too, won't let this die. His authority has been challenged, and challenged by an 11 year-old (albeit an adult in an 11 year-old's body). And I think Dumbledore would have chip on his shoulder to say the least. Normally, I'd say Dumbledore would've laughed it off, but the way he phrased his order gives the impression, at least to me, that he won't take this issue lightly.
This could create some interesting problems for Neville in the future.
Author's response
All I can say is; keep reading GRIN All of your questions will be answered.
One thing I want to address, Albus was mainly concerned about making extra work for his staff and himself, when he tried to lean on Neville. As you will see in future chapters, he's a lot more relaxed about it now.
Thanks for your feedback
