Really liked the chapter.
Albus is continuing to be a prick of epic proportions, dwarfing Snape and Voldemort in prickitude.
Harry setting up his relatives for insurance fraud is a brilliant and funny turn of events and a perfect way for the Dursley's to get their karmic comeuppance after years of being shitty people.
ANd sending the Death Eater masks and robes to Snape reminds me of the Godfather, specifically the 'Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes' scene and, to a lesser extent, the horse head in bed scene.Author's response
Dumbledore is not finished being a prick. On the other hand, Harry hasn't even begun with him. I've always felt Dumbledore is far worse a Villian than Voldy.
Snape has a whole circle of hell reserved for him.
Dursleys: Oh, I'm not stopping there! How about embezzlement, and tax fraud...not to mention not paying their bill in Majorca.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
Actually, that's where I got the idea. One of the greatest movies of all time.

G'day mate. Thanks for a great read. Enjoyed the detail you have gone into so far. Now with the vote at the Wizengamot to come I reckon it will get even better. Good yarn. May your force be with you. Cheers.

G'day!
Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you're enjoying my scribblings.
The vote will actually be the lesser part of the confrontation at the Wizengamot meeting. After all, does anybody actually expect the Wizards to allow someone as stupid as Fudge to keep the job? Even in canon, they sacked him. I'm just going into detail.
More's coming.

Ah, Harry's now starting to "play" with the Dursleys and they have no idea that he's got the toys, connections, or means to truly mess with them; I suspect they are going to find a long succession of rude shocks (I'll give odds that some aspects, such as some of Vernon's shenanigans, will only need uncovering and Harry's got the wherewithall to do it - anyone care to bet that the goblins have the best forensic bookkeepers around and know -all- the dodges (probably invented most of them)? I rather suspect that just explaining that the dead Deeters were just so many masks and robes to be destroyed that he didn't realize he'd taken out Bella will get him off the hook with House Longbottom.
I rather like the "incentive" system Hermione has to bring him back as soon as possible. I'm rather looking forward to Kingsley trying to stop him and finding out just how potent the Force really is, even against trained and experienced Aurors (evil thought - Harry disengages all Albus' compulsions but leaves Kingsley with the memories of just what was done to him - reckon that'd cause still more headaches for Albus).
I think introducing the Force to those elves that can manipulate it is going to have very interesting repurcussions down the line, especially if some of the more hidebound purebloods can't match what the elves can do That makes arguements of superiority much, much less convincing.
Yeah, I can imagine what a subtly defective or dirty crystal would do when the full power of a high-energy laser (or equivalent beam) goes through it and sets up huge thermal stresses; that's when you want the lens well away from any people.
Oh, and I'll agree with the others that sending that package to Severus was a very nice touch, especially since Tom will so powerfully show his appreciation, too.
I'm looking forward to the Wizengamot session as Albus finds that he doesn't hold near as many cards, let alone high cards, as he thought he did. His expression when he realizes the block, or combined blockx, he's dealing with should be -quite- entertaining, at least to those who harbor some ill will against him. What'll be even funnier is if he afterwards tries to force Harry into following his will and finds just how much Harry is beyond his control or knowledge. It could be argued, though, that this scene is best reserved for a later confrontation.Author's response
The Dursleys are going to be in the dark until it's time to return to Britain. When they check out of their hotel, they're going to learn they cannot pay the bill. the Spanish are not going to like that! The fire investigation is only the first part. each new discovery will lead to another.
I can see Vernon skimming, but in this case, he's going to be 'mostly' innocent. Unfortunately(for him) that's not what other people are going to see.
~/I rather suspect that just explaining that the dead Deeters were just so many masks and robes to be destroyed that he didn't realize he'd taken out Bella will get him off the hook with House Longbottom./~
That's almost word-for-word how I'd decided to handle that little problem.
Are you reading my mind?
Incentive or no, Harry has an errand before returning from the Wizeacregamot meeting. Still, he'll be collecting his 'reward'.
Shack's compulsions will be dealt with by a force more powerful than the force...MWAHAHAHAHA!
...and Albie is gonna have headaches coming from all sides, real soon.
While the force wielding elves is a nice twist, there will only be one who can use it in combat. Dobby is a sport...a genetic throwback to the earlier woods elves, only not entirely. He is more than capable of harming a human in the defense of his master. Most elves are not able to take independent action.(as I described with Tootles.) Still there is hope for the future.
I see you understand my point about the crystals entirely. I've seen the results of such an explosion.
Snape is going to have a hard decision ahead of him. "Hmmm, Do I deliver these to my psychotic master and guarantee a rousing round of 'let's torture Severus', or do I destroy them here and hope he never finds out, which if he did, would also guarantee a rousing round of 'let's torture Severus'?
During the meeting, Albie will be the kid with his face pressed against the window...literally. It will be during the meeting that he understands that he no longer has any control over the BWL. Worse, he's going to find that it's a question of mind over matter. Harry no longer minds, because Albie no longer matters. As for his ongoing troubles, remember, he still has an audit coming up.
BWAH! BWAH! BWAHA! BWAHAHA!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Until next week. Same Bat-time, same Bat-channel.

Hmm, Dobby as a "sport", a throwback to an earlier form of elf? I can see that as easily believeable, especially since Dobby seems to be the only elf who enjoys being free. OTOH, force-sensitive elves could make for some excellent training assistants. I'm looking forward to seeing just how Shack is dealt with (I suspect they'll go easy on him once Dumbles' controls are recognized and removed - but until then he wil be, I suspect, very, very uncomfortable).
It's going to be real interesting for Albie when the audit hits and he finds he can't "influence", in any way, the auditors and gets his hand slapped for trying. Of course, that's just going to add to his humiliation and anger. 'Twould be amusing if he went off half-cocked because of all that and made some damn fool mistakes a "self-controlled" Albus wouldn't.Author's response
I figured being a sport was the only reasonable answer. If Dobby is closer to the woods elves, he would crave freedom. As he indicated, his bonding is to a family or group that has emotional ties to him. The Malfoy family did not, an even Dumbledore considered him a servant...albeit an odd one. Harry has the feelings of love and friendship for the little pest and so, "Dobby is muchly stronger!"
The compulsions on Shack will be discovered soon. Amelia will handle that! as for the rest, yes. They will, and he will.
Albie is going to find his influence completely neutered, and he ain't gonna be happy. I don't expect him to try to influence the Goblins...more than once.

That's coming...just not yet.

-“Ron, you didn’t think they got that from your mother, did you?”-
That's a truly delightful line and one that's very, very plausible. It does make one wonder what Arthur did do for the DoM (I'm thinking Hit Wizard or "proactive investigator" - for which the term "reconnaisance in force" might could be used, though "reconnaisance with force" would more likely be accurate).
Author's response
Thank yeeewww! I cannot see the twins inheriting anything from Molly. Arthur is still a blank canvas, even in canon.
Here, though I will only go into his past a little bit, Arthur was at one time an unspeakable. He was captured on a mission by the Lestrange's who thought it might be fun to torture him. In the process, they cut off his legs, but did not destroy them. they were reattached after he was freed, but due to the damage, he was no longer considered fit for active duty.
(The same thing happened to me as a SEAL attached to the 1st/7th in Beirut.
After my knee was shattered, I could no longer run like I used to and so I could no longer be a SEAL. Instead of retiring me medically, like they should have,(Regan years) they decided to put me on the flight deck of the USS America.)

I think I got the idea on Arthur from Nightmares of Futures Past, by Viridian, but I'm not certain.JEDI POTTER

NoFP might be one place, but I know some other authors have him with the Unspeakables, too. The two-part "Unspeakable Truths" series being one of my favorites but it was a reference and homage to another fanfic writer (Rors perhaps?) as I know Keith used the same bit in one of his stories.Author's response
I could be wrong. Unspeakable Truths sounds like a good read. I'll have to loo it up. I didn't' know Keith had a piece like that. I'll have to look it up too.

so much good continues to come out in this story. I'm eagerly awaiting more.
I especially liked the lemon drop bag flying from the flagpole.Author's response
Thank you. I'm trying to write it in a more realistic fashion than many authors.
More is on it's way.
I can see Peeves doing that! he's got plenty of pranks in store for Ol' Dumbley.

Oh no! I'm caught up! now what? Great so far, looking forward to more...Author's response
Already?
Did you read straight through?
Next chapter will settle some of the questions and probably raise more.

Really enjoying your story, was skeptical at first, but that has already changed a few chapters ago.
I had the sudden urge to review this just to say, "arsewipe" cracked me up :)Author's response
Thanks for the kind words. Blending the two universes without making things too -super-, is difficult at best.
You'll find little things like that throughout the story.

Q. What DOES happen if you get dirty optics or a flawed laser? Will the emitter mechanism explode....?Author's response
Not specifically the emitter, but the crystal itself. That’s just as bad. Imagine a two inch wide shaft of stone (crystal) exploding under the exciter pressure of five million watts. I saw that happen in New Mexico. Seven people died and thirteen more were badly injured. It was like a bomb going off. The only reason I wasn’t hurt was that I had just come in the door on the other side of the lab…fourty feet away. As it was, the shock wave knocked me back out the door. I was eleven when this happened and it made a definite impression. In the case of a lightsaber, my design varies from canon (actually the followup books), in that it has only one crystal rather than two. The crystal is a focusing device directly behind and centered within the conter-rotating field coils, and shapes the beam itself. Based upon my expertise with various lasers, I designed it so that a high voltage source located deeper in the grip, generates a high tension light, and the light produced is carried by a light-pipe to the crystal which focuses the beam itself, and if the crystal were flawed, or even dirty, it would explode under the photonic ‘pressure’ as it were, probably taking the user’s hand with it, if not killing him outright.
