Interesting thing about Ficwad is I get to see a bunch of other reviews and author's comments before I have my chance to put in my two cents.
I don't have much to add. I was guessing that Daphne is being forced to break up. The proof would be if she didn't return (unless there's some magical compulsion involved.)
Looking forward to more. Sad that this is winding down, but all good things come to an end.
Thanks for writing!

- It's been fun, really. I'm surprised at the amount of attention that this quiet little story had generated... I mean no fights, no real conflicts, even going into the snake's den and making nice at Draco and Co...
- I'm figuring 2 maybe 3 more chapters.Harry Potter and the Marriage Contracts

Sorry! I forgot to review. now I already know that daphnes father set that whole thing up, and I know that he probably set up a similar contract witch someone decided to make good on the clauses. and in her guilt over cheating on harry she decided to end the relationship. And I hope that she has a explaination for him later on. but now as for hermione i thought that she would want to keep it in her pants for a while, to avoid maing the same mistake twice.Author's response
- No problem.
- Oh, you're good. You know me too well...
- Hermione hasn't slept (or not slept) with Justin yet... She might in a few weeks or months change that... and perhaps do something more than cuddles and less than coitus before that...Harry Potter and the Marriage Contracts

One mistake I have to point out is that in the flash back you had Mrs. Black's portrait gone-a new wall in place, but when Harry showed up with the goblin in current time it was back screaming...what happened?
As for Daphne, surely after having his own mind messed with by Dumbledore, and his friends personalities tweaked, he would realize what a pureblood dark father would/could do to his daughter to get what he wants? Hell even Hermione should have realized this. Does Harry know about the personalities changes?
As for Remus...a silver bullet isn't good enough, perhaps silver nitrate in his bloodstream. Did Sirius know Remus betrayed him as well?Author's response
- Check again. Harry went to #12 with Lojak after his memory blocks were removed, the day before Hermione came to visit...
- He'll figure that out, give him time. He needs to get over feeling sorry for himself first.Harry Potter and the Marriage Contracts

While I suppose Daphne's letter was forged or coerced, it's difficult to see why Harry and Hermione aren't dating. I think you're being a typical anti-Hermione male jerk.Author's response
- Well, that was... odd.
- If you've read many of my stories, and I know you have since you've reviewed them, then you know that in the majority of my stories with ships, Hermione is my fem of choice.
- I fail to see why so many people have problems with Harry loving Hermione but not in a sexual way. In my live I have had many female friends, who I would do anything for, anything except have sex with them.
- Perhaps I am odd, but I do believe that a man and a woman can be friends without a sexual component.
- I am typical in many ways, I am male, and on occasion I've even been a jerk, but I don't think I've ever been Anti-Hermione. For the sake of my little stories I have placed her in unfortunate situations, and even had her make unfortunate choices (because people do that, even remarkable women).
- If my story in which Harry is not with Hermione and doesn't want to be disturbs you so much, might I suggest reading something different?Harry Potter and the Marriage Contracts

Very nice update.
I am greatly enjoying this story.
I can't help thinking that Daphne's father is very involved in that note that Harry got... and yes, I do think that Harry was in character, but would think that knowing everything he does, he would at least check with Tracey Davis for "confirmation" to avoid a Weasley that might happened.Author's response
- Remember, that at this point in the story, Harry has had less than 24 hours to process what has happened...Harry Potter and the Marriage Contracts

Ok, this story was going great until this chapter. The 'break up' reaction from Harry seems quite OOC as is the letter - the Harry you have shown us is smart enough to realise it's not from Daphne. The Harry you have painted quite well for us is quite different from the Harry that accepts the letter.
I know I'm not stating it well, but I honestly had to check and make sure I was reading the same story as I swore it was a new Harry..
Hopefully there will be a good explanation for this abrupt character shift, and hopefully Harry and Daphne will be back together soon.Author's response
- Oye. The grief I'm getting from this chapter.
- Some think he's out of character, some thing he's in character but an idiot for not automatically knowing that Dumbles/The Elder Greengrass/Ginny is behind it. Three people have told me they think I've handled Harry's reaction exactly the way he would react.
- Let's review: For Harry's entire life, when ever he was happy, whatever or who ever was the cause of said happiness was taken from him. As he told Tonks in the previous chapter he was worried because he was happy.
- He gets the Dear John letter. He goes into a massive feel sorry for himself mode and breaks things (much to Dobby's delight) Something like 24 hours after he was dear johned he was at Hermione's house for Christmas Dinner. He hasn't had time to process what has happened yet.
- Yes Daphne went from "I wuv boo" to "We're through" in less than a week. That does indeed happen. It happened to me.
- Is Harry going to suspect that he and Daphne are being handled? Of course he is, as soon as he can get a chance to THINK about it.
- He will honor her request to leave her alone until he can talk to her back at school...Harry Potter and the Marriage Contracts

So you're still working Hermione with Justin -- too bad. But there at the end there's a spark of sanity in the Granger family -- in Papa Granger. Hopefully that bodes well for the future.
Now the letter and unreturned calls are too sudden for it to be really Daphne (Maybe Hermione will help Harry figure that out), so Papa Greengrass is showing the insanity for that family.
Update soon.Harry Potter and the Marriage Contracts

Hate to see that Harry has given in so easily. Could be a pairing of him and Hermione in the works? Meh, maybe not. Still a very enjoyable read.Harry Potter and the Marriage Contracts

I love this story, and I never would have expected the couple to break up! I especially enjoy the way you put a new outlook on the ending of the series. I never thought Ginny was quite right for Harry anyways. And you don't take 2 years to update like some authors...Harry Potter and the Marriage Contracts

Just found this story and I love it!! Ron is a bastard!!
I take it that it isn't Daphne doesn't know anything about the "break up" and it was Daddy that done it? I'm also betting that she is going to go mad at Harry for not getting in contact at Christmas etc?
I liked the part about Harry saying that no one is good enough for Hermione.
Update soon!!

- Welcome and thank you.
- I would call Ron more of an ass, but bastard works too.
- Daphne is angry, yes... But I'm not saying at whom...
- Working on it now.
