She knew we weren’t going to talk, and that we were going to shout. But still, she ran into the garden, with her hands over her ears.

!” I was shaking, hard. Frank put his arms around me, to try and calm me down. He kissed my cheek, and whispered it was going to be okay.

When we got into the house, he kissed me good night and went upstairs to bed. I was expecting to hear him crying himself to sleep, but I didn’t.
