I never liked Albus, less Lupin, always found him a coward, does not deserve to Tonk.
thanks for the new chapter, Greetings!Author's response
Heya makarva.
As I’ve indicated before, Remus was as much the victim of Dumbledore’s plots as Sirius or Harry. When you look at it, Dumbledore had complete control over Remus in canon, and here, I think I’ve given a reasonable idea of how. (Part 15) if Remus was comfortable, he would be of less use as a tool. Just as if Harry were reared in a loving enviornment, he’d be useless as a martyr. Why else would he have kept Remus from seeing Harry as a child? By keeping Remus on such a short leash, by controlling how much or little he earns with laws that actively prohibit any gainful employment, and by continually forcing him to see himself as nothing more than a ravenig monster, Dumbledore has control over him, and canon has shown that if nothing else, Dumbledore just loves being in control.
As for Remus/Tonks, while a ‘cute’ couple, they’re a bit too close to the ‘half your age, plus seven years’ rule, for my tastes. I believe Rowling (or whoever ghosted those last two books) stuffed that in at the very last second. It seems ludicrous that Harry’s last remaining family and the only partially developed adult (as it were) female were killed just after naming him godfather to little Teddy. That Tonks would get pregnant in time of war when there are magical potions and charms for damn near everything, (Contraception, anyone?) That Tonks was involved in the battle at all, is the height of irresponsibility. Her first priority should have been her child. Mine has always been. Every decision I’ve made over the past eighteen years directly considered how that decision would affect my daughter. To me, their deaths were nothing more than a way to make Harry feel even guiltier for not saving them…something she’s pushed heavily throughout the series. I’ve said before, I disagree intensely with many of the decisions in those piles of…typing.

Yay! A new chapter! What a great surprise after the day I've had! Many thanks, and here's hoping that Dumbles Halloween leads onward and upward to a worse November and terrible Christmas.....and a miserable New Year! I loved seeing Marge and Ripper get their just reward; and hope dear Snape gets something just right for him..... To bad, so sad for Dumbles, missing that new prophecy is just another instance of his well deserved and miserable luck! Here's hoping that Voldy and company have lots of bad dances coming to them courtesy of Harry's plots! I bet Mack enjoyed that roast, wish my dinner had included one just like it! Many thanks for the chapter! :)Author's response
Heya Teresa!
Glad to know my words lifted your spirits, and you are quite welcome.
Dumbledore: His year has started off bad, and is only gonna get worse. While the major blows are over (for the time being) I’ve arranged for a few potsots courtesy of our favorite gossip columnist between now and December.
Snape: Funny you should mention him. His Christmas gift will be closely tied to Dumbledore’s and those for the other Deez who bought their way free.
Ripper: I really hated to do that, unfortunately under Marge Dursley’s ‘Tutalage’, Ripper has become a dangerous animal. I believe strongly that it’s not the breed, it’s the breeder. In canon, there is a strong parallel between Dudley and Ripper (and Draco, for that matter). They had been taught there would be no consequences for their actions, and as a result, they were undisciplined animals. Personally, think Marge should have shared his fate, but perhaps the legal system can punish her appropriately. My usual punishment for her is fifteen years in prison, a £25,000 (US$45,000.oo) fine, and her breeders license revoked for the rest of her life.
Prophecy: The funny thing is no one will ever hear it. Depending on how a prophecy gets to the DoM, it might well be fulfilled before it’s ever recorded…if it ever is. Since Sybill doesn’t remember it, and there was nobody around to hear it, the tree made no noise.
You may insert an evil chuckle here.
Voldy’s fate is nearly sealed. There are only three soul jars left and in figurative January, the Diary will be gone. After that, it’s only Tom and Harry. (Sorry.) As for his morons…erm minions, see ‘Christmas gift’, above.
The roast: I greatly enjoy cooking, which is why I usually include something edible in my stories. While I’ve made crown roasts a handful of times, usually for a holiday meal, and they taste wonderful, quite honestly, they’re expensive and usually more trouble than they’re worth.
Until next time…

Very nice part. And lightsabers rock! A little nod to your other story?Author's response
Heya Rob.
Not intentionally. I decided some time ago to have H&H guising, and what better than the Jedi. If I’m not mistaken, ‘Return’ came out about then so the plastic copies would be available everywhere. Since I had no intention to create a working lightsaber, I had Harry make do.

That reminded me of college. Quantum mechanics, the Uncertainty principle and finally Edmund Burke, brought back headaches. Pity Marge didn't get put down with Ripper. Liked the explanation for the Lightsabre. Pity Molly's howler didn't blow the beard off Dumbles' face as well. Very enjoyable. Cheers.
ZAuthor's response
Heya Z!
Quantum physics is abot three orders of magnitude over my head, and I must say, Heisenberg’s theory ain’t all that far behind, still, I do understand the bare minimum. I’ve never studied sociology, but Burke’s quote is one of my favorites. It’s truer now than when he said it.
Marge: Much as I’d lie to, I think I’ll let the slow moving bureaucracy deal with erh. Who knows? Maybe she’ll have a heart attack.
Ripper: Like I told Teresa, I really hated to do that. Animals act the way they’re trained. I’ve seen pitbulls that are the nicest dogs and I’ve seen spaniels that are absolutely cvicious. Now, chihuahuas on the other hand, should be given to larger dogs as chew toys.
The lightsaber was actually a wild hair. I had the basic of guising down months ago, but it took unil yesterday to flesh it out. As it is, since I’d already done the in-depth 'create the lightsaber' bit, I decided to use Harry’s accumulated skills to make up for the lack, as it were.
Molly’s Howler: Now that you mention it, I find myself in complete agreement.
Until next time…

"With a ‘Snikt’ a blade flashed. The teen snarled. “I said give over, or I might just decide to cut up your little girlfriend’s pretty face!” Now, things had gone deadly serious. Dan prepared himself for battle."
Was that Dan supposed to be Mack?
Remus is a useless coward. Just like in canon.
I like how Dumbledore's plans are ruined here.
Harry is absurdly skilled, but it is justified here.
An enjoyable read.Author's response
Hello erbkaiser.
Yes, it was. I can’t understand wehy I might have put that there, as I NEVER use Dan. My only possible excuse is that I was typing this until about ten minutes before I posted. OOPS!
Remus: I disagree. I see Remus as someone who’s been shat on for nearly his entire life, and unfortunatrely has reacted to that in the manner of a normal human being.
Dumbledore: Anytime I can screw with the old bastard, I take it.
Harry: Yes, he’s skilled, but he has had a thousand years to learn those skills.
Thanks for the kind words.

Arcanophobia; is that a real word or a neologism?
BJHAuthor's response
Heya BJH!
I suppose it’a neologism. ( I had to look that up!) I thunked it up a few years ago before I leared the real word (thaumophiobia), but I think ‘fear of the arcane’ sounds a bit better.

Got to say that this is another great story here. I hope things have been going well for you these last few years, and I know what it's like to lose someone so close to you. I do like this story a lot, especially the idea of this Harry who has gone back and is trying to make things not only right, but is plowing full ahead and doing it ASAP rather than how so many stories that follow canon almost slavishly, and may I say that it's also my hope that this powerful Harry may have the chance to smack down folk who have not indebted themselves to him this time around, so that some justice will be handed down to them.Author's response
Heya Wondwerbee!
Glad you’re liking the show. It’s a lot of fun to write…if a bit frustrating.
Firelemming: Can you believe it’s been nearly three years? I still miss her greatly. Marion had the most unusual sense of humour. My daughter has finally gotten over her death, though she’s changed her haircolor far too often to suit me.
Canon: Yeah, I’ve seen too many do-over stories that can be described as ‘formulaic’ at best. This Harry is doing things, as Jamba said in ‘Lilo and Stitch’; “MY WAY!” I have another I’m working on, where Harry does something similar, but set during and after his fourth year. (I started it years ago and sorta set it to the side, so it’s gonna be a bit cliché by the time I post it.)
Smack-down: For the most part, those due a bit of smackin’ are already named. Since the ministry has already been dealt with, Dumbledore Snape and the Deez are my targets of choice. Surprisingly enough, I’m leaving the Weasleys alone.

How meany cahters or parts until Hogwarts? And Will Hermione and/or her family find out the truth about Harry?Author's response
Heya Destroyer.
Hogwarts: If you’re meaning attending, that will be well outside this story’s arc. If visiting…“Patience…for the Jedi it is time to eat as well. Mmmm!”
Hermione will find out about the My Little in mid December and her parents will be clued in about a week later. That’s when they will learn of harry’s origin.

I found a possible error in the Rita Skeeter article.
Dear readers, writes Rita Skeeter, special correspondent to The Daily Prophet,..., who on thirty first October of five years ago, ...
If it is still 1985, then her article should say four years ago, not five as Harry's parents were killed in 1981.Author's response
Heya MonCappy.
When youre right, you’re right. It should have been ‘four years ago.’ Worse, I originally had it as four, but I changed it at the last minute.
“D’oh!”

A most enjoyable chapter that I came to late, after a long day. I love the way Rita takes apart Albus and I hope this is just the start of a most uncomfortable time for him. The fake-out using magic with the toy lightsaber was a touch-back to one of your other stories as well as a very pragmatic move, what authority figure is going to believe that there's a kid with a "for real" lightsaber out there?
Marge and Ripper getting their just due was a delight and I hope she suffers for her manifold sins.Author's response
Thanks, man. Good to know it’ took off the edge. Anytime I can zing Dumbley, I take it.
Lightsaber: Not intentionally. I wanted him to be dressed as (ostensibly) Luke and Leia, but I had a wild idea, having been snatched from, I decided to, let us say...enhance Harry’s image a bit. Since the lightsaber was in fact a toy, he had to use ‘other methods’ to do the job. On the other hand, you’re right. Most likely any authority figure would decide their story was the result of the ‘something a bit stronger’ they’d been ingesting.
It’s a real shame about Ripper. As a dog, he was trained by a bigot who liked to torment a child. Unlike people, dogs don’t have the cognitive capacity to reason things out…and I know I’m gonna catch hell from every single dog owner in the world for saying that!
Be that as may be, Ripper was trained to behave the way he did, and killing him is not punishing the person who made him that way. Marge on the other hands will be facing a year or more in jail before she sees trial and after that, she’ll spend some more quality time behind bars. (But that will also be outside this story arc.)
Dave.
