Good update but with a hole of sorts. Harry has taken care to get a lot of things done to eliminate the threat of Voldie and minions, but he has not given over a list of secret DE's or sympathizers, and having lived through it all he must have known them. It seems like an oversight that is obviously costing lives that Harry could fix with a simple anonomous letter to Ms. Bones.Author's response
Hello, ladysavay,
Harry ensured a competent minister and a competent head of the Wizengamot were named. The only Deez he has a personal grudge with are already in Azkaban…except Malfoy, and he’s cast a great deal of suspicion on Lucy and his fellow ‘exes’ in his letter to Madam Bones in part 7.
As for the lethal oversight, he does not yet know about the machinations of the Death Eaters. When he does find out, he’ll take the appropriate actions (I already have that action worked out.)

Surprised Harry didn't know of someway he or the little couldn't detect dark magic. Good to see the kids getting used too doing things as a team. Dawlish has always come across as a DE sympathiser. Couldn't agree more re Quantum Leap. Will check out you Gal1661 rec. Cheers.

Have a good Independence DayAuthor's response
G’day, Zamia!
Just now, Harry isn’t really aware f the Deez’ actions. He still thinks they’re lying low. Perhaps being a thousand years old should have made him suspicious but in the original timeline he didn’t hear about any of them until he met Ron on the train.
I agree on Dawlish. The second I read about him I was thinking; ~Somethng’s hinky here!~ his actions afterward only helped to firm my beliefs.
Quantum leap: I wish I knew what happened to several authors, Seel’vor being only one of them. They all sort of stopped writing in October of ’10. Unfortunately, my access to the net is limited just now, so I really can’t do much to follow up.
Gal1661 outstanding read.
Ta and thanks

excellent update I wonder how harry going to get with his wardsAuthor's response
Thanks, Starboy.
Harry’s thoughts on wards were more a throw-away line than anything. Legally speaking, such lethal wards would be akin to having a machine gun mounted on your roof targeted and fired by motion sensors and servos. Read: Illegal as hell! Don’t worry. When the deeters come to play, they won’t get anywhere near the Grangers’ home.

Another fine effort. Seems like Dawlish will get caught in the follow up. Thanks for writing. W.Author's response
Heya Wolfric.
Thank you. In this case, he’ll get away with it, but December has arrived and soon afterward, there will be hell to pay. Dawlish will eventually get his just desserts…along with all the rest.

My only issue with this chapter is on the martial arts. Aikido is not, in any way, an 'aggressive' martial art. It's all about avoiding conflict, in fact the best aikidoka will never have to fight at all. When they must, it is throws and joint locks, things to use to stop someone and get away, rather than offensive moves. You sound, from the note at the end of the chapter, like you know a bit about at least Judo - there I will admit to knowing nothing other than it's an offensive grappling martial art. Are you sure you don't have them flipped around?Author's response
Heya OdinMage,
Compared to Judo, Aikido can be used quite aggressively. I think of Aikido as ‘Judo with oomph’. At the age of six, or seven, being thrown to the ground, especially if one does not know how to fall, is usually enough to deter any further aggression. If it takes more, that can also be learned.
As you indicated, I am well trained in Judo and Aikido, and for the less cooperative people, Tang su do as well. I am also skilled in Sambo, Muay Thai, (simply put: knife and baton fighting) Krav Maga, MCMAP, and various other combat tactics. Some of those have kept me alive in the sandbox, and some, I learned just as an interest. I do not use any of them unless lives are at stake.

A very interesting update and I'm certain one that will lead to a number of interesting follow-up events. If Lucius and company come after the Grangers, the results could end up being quite colorful and entertaining; though Amelia may well find them a mixed blessing. I like the way Harry & Hermione are becoming more of a team; this bodes well for the future. That they are bringing their classmates along should make things very interesting indeed on both sides of the divide, especially if they continue the same policies, and disregard House, when/if they go to Hogwarts.Author's response
Heya Cat!
Like Dumbledore, Lucy has others do the dirty work. He’ll be safely tucked inside his mansion while the rest of the Deez are going out and risking their all for the cause.
Colorful and entertaining is actually shockingly close to the truth, and Amelia is gonn a have her hands full either way.
I’m working the Harry/Hermione dynamic as simply as possible given the disparity in their experiences. Just now, they are two kids becoming best friends as they grow. For the rest, it was a snap decision. The school they attend is an exclusive school for gifted students. Harry knows that many of these children are destined for upper level careers and is simply nudgng things to make the future a bit better. While none of their schoolmates are magical, his policies and manner of teaching will indeed work well on the other side of the divide…but that is well outside this story arc.

Considering Dawlish, there are also his actions in book 7, he participates, as an Auror, in at least one of the attacks against Harry, unfortunately I can not cite exactly where but I think it is towards the end of the book, possibly the same one where Stan Shunpike shows up as a DeathEater.
BJHAuthor's response
Hey BJH,
Dawlish. I read through DH, but was so disgusted by HAP, I treally didn’t pay much attention. (Sigh, I’ll have to read that pile of…typing again. You evil person, you!)
Stan: Shows clearly the disparity in canon. First of all, he’s about as capable a wizard as Crabbe or Goyle, and second, despite Rowling’s assertion, I don’t think anyone could become a Death Eater while under Imperius. If it takes the use of an unforgivable as I and several other authors believe, it can’t be done. According to Crouch/Moody and Bellatrix, to cast an unforgivable, as George Carlin would say, ya gotta WANNA! Magic is all about intent (as I've made mentionof in this story) That also applies to the sectusempra curse. Just flicking your wand and saying the words, without knowng what it does isn’t enough. That’s one of my favorite plot holes, don’tcha know.

A very good update. It left a lot of questions to be answered.
I agree with OdinMage, I think you have your martial arts disciplines backwards. Let them do Aikido and then move them into Krav Maga, now that IS offensive martial arts!Author's response
I’ll say it again, one must learn to walk before one learns to run. Judo is that walking. Aikido is…walking very fast. I learned Krav Maga while I was in the sandy part of the world with the Marine Corps. It is designed to ensure not only that your opponent goes down quickly, but that he doesn’t get back up. Let’s just say we don’t want them killing anybody. For most situations, like schoolyard bullying in Britain, Aikido (Hell, Judo, for that matter!) is all they need.

Fantastic chapter. I wonder if you are going to have him make a space station for latter with the kids he has tutored at the school to have their own place to live and do research. I look forward to the next one.Author's response
Heya ralphmullins.
Wow. Although a great idea, that is WELL beyond this story. This will not be a multi-year story. (that will be A Boy Named Harry) In fact, I intend to end it within a few more chapters.
